" Derek was right, magic doesn't effect you in any shape or form, so how'd you do it? " Miss Layla calmly asked as I sit here on this stool while Vaeril treats my bleeding nose.
" I don't know " I said.
" Your lucky we got there in time, what the hell are you doing outside? " Derek asked as he stands there arms folded.
" I just wanted to see the city " I said.
" Seems like curiosity got the best of you " Vaeril said and finish cleaning my nose.
He puts away his medical stuff.
" No other injuries that are visible to me, but I will check again next thing in the morning " Vaeril said.
" Thank you, Vaeril, and sorry for waking you up at this hour " Layla said.
He nods and walk away with his supplies while I still sit here.
" You still haven't answered my question " Derek said, I stay silent and look away.
" Elvenia? " He asked and I see she flies next to me in silence as well.
" You do know the rules of this school very well Elvenia?, I'm sorry but it's an unacceptable action, I'm disappointed at you, now please head back to the library, you will lose your flying abilities for a day " Layla said, Elvenia gasp and I turn to them.
" Let her go, I was the one who convince her to go with me, please, she has nothing to do with it. . .it was all me " I said.
Derek then look at Layla.
" But Y/n– "
" It's okay " I said then turn to her.
" You may leave, Elvenia " Derek said.
Elvenia turns to me first and I gesture my head for her to go and she flies out of this room through the small door.
" May I see that? " I look at miss Layla who gestured to my wrist.
I look down where my silver bracelet is, I cover it and pull back my hand.
" It's nothing " I said.
" It's alright, just a quick look " she said.
I hesitantly take it off my wrist and pass it to her, she holds it carefully as I watch.
" It's a unique accessory for it to be nothing, where'd you purchased it? " She asked.
" I didn't, it was my birth parent's " I said.
" Birth parent's? " She asked, I look at Derek and he takes the bracelet from her hand.
" It was left with her when she was abandoned " he said.
" What are your histories? " She gestures to me and Derek.
" He found me in a dumpster, then dump me again in another crappy family who abandoned me too " I simply said.
" I couldn't take care of you back then, so the Bridgers family volunteered to adopt you, he was a trusted friend " he said.
" And that trusted friend of yours volunteered to made sleep with the living stock, you remembered the day I got sick, don't you? " I asked.
Derek then turns to Layla again.
" So she's the one you've been visiting all these years? " She asked, he nods.
She then looks back down at my bracelet.
" I've seen this somewhere before, in another city from here, a prestige family, the L/n's if I'm not mistaken, their heirlooms are based on the snowy owl, it symbolizes protection and magic, could be the answer to your immunity to magic " she said, I snicker.
" Me, noble?, Yeah right " I said and snatch back my bracelet.
" Why not?, It could be possible " she said.
" How so? " I asked.
" They do have a missing daughter, an incident occurred almost two decades ago, considering your age there's a possibility " she said.
" You really think so? " I asked.
" They're invited to the banquet tomorrow, we could find out " she said.
" I'm not invited, I can't go " I said.
" But you do want to know " Derek said, I chuckle.
" Now you two just want me to lose hope, but no thank you " I get off my stool as I put my bracelet on the table.
" If that's what you want, could've just asked right from the beginning, now if you'll excuse me, I want to go to sleep " I walk away.
" Your willing to give up just like that?, After all these years, you could get out of that life you know " I look over my shoulder to Derek.
" Unlike you I'm glad I'm not as spoiled as other nobles " I said.
" And maybe they'll pay off your debt " he smiles.
I roll my eyes and walk away.
~ Time Skip ~
" Y/n, wake up " I hum as I feel the tip of my nose being shaken.
" What? " I asked and turn to a comfortable position.
" Wake up, your dress is here " she said.
" What?, What dress? " I open one eyes and see Elvenia flying in front of me giggling.
" Your dress to go to the banquet, duh " she said.
I furrow my eyebrows and open my eyes tiredly to see a mannequin with a dress on it. (Pic above)
" That's just a better version of the school uniform which is bullshit because I'm not going to the palace, and there's no classes today so, I'm gonna go back to sleep thinking this is a dream " I close my eyes.
" Oh come on!, It's the palace! " She said and I hear her struggling.
I open my eyes again to see her pulling the curtains.
" So he's behind this and I will be a secretary today " I said.
" Miss Layla agreed " she said and got the curtains open.
" Ugh, fine " I sit up and stretch my arms.
" Yay! "
I got of the bed and clean myself up more, Elvenia help me put on the dress and I sit down on my vanity table where I look at the mirror. I brush my hair straight and out the brush down while Elvenia does my hair, I look down and notice my bracelet.
I pick it up and hold it in both hands.
" Hey Elvenia " I said.
" Yes? " She asked as I gaze at my bracelet.
" Do you think I belong in a prestige family? " I asked.
" Well, you got magic that makes you immune to magic, I'd say probably " she said, I snicker.
" Your just trying to make me feel better " I said.
" Do you not want to? " She asked, I chuckle.
" Of course I do " I said and put it on.
" I really appreciate what you did last night " she said.
" No problem " I said.
" Really Y/n, you didn't have to but you did it anyways " she said.
" I know what it feels like to be a disappointment so don't worry, I got your back " I said, she giggles.
" Done! " She said.
I look up to see she's did a pretty good job, I got up from the chair and adjust my skirt then my sleeve.
" Needs a little more touch up " Elvenia stares at me.
" What do you mean?, This looks fine to me " I said.
" The buttons wasn't polished " she said then fly around me in a circle.
I notice the glitter she's leaving behind while flying made the buttons on my dress shine. I exhale in disbelief and she stops in front of shaking her head.
" Phew!, Gotta get used to that spinning thing, might actually puked one day " she said, I chuckle.
" Thank you " I said and spin around in my high top boots.
" Let's go, everyone's waiting in the hallway " she said, I nodded and we leave my room.
I shut the door behind me.
" Morning Esmus " I said.
He grumbles as he reads his book and I walk pass him.
" Someone's not an early bird " I mutter.
Leave the library, Elvenia follow me down the stairs as my boots click on the marble steps, I made it to the ground floor and I see all the students wearing outfits to their standards. I already can tell who's the best, Rowena stands there with the most outstanding dress out of all, she's just like the phoenix bird.
I approach them.
" Morning " I wave.
" Yay!, Your coming! " Lumina hugs me and I hug back.
" Didn't really think I could " I said.
" You look nice " Rowena said.
" Did you just compliment me? " I asked.
" Do you want me to take it back? " She asked.
" Forget it, you look nice too " I gesture to her reddish orange dress like the fire.
Her hair is curled nicely with her make up is like smokey eyes, Lumina however is a silver white dress that has pearls sown onto it, matches her light ash brown hair, it even has layers.
" So, when are we going? " I asked.
" When the bell chimes, Mrs. Zvahl will open a portal " Aurora said.
" A portal? " I asked, she nods.
" The palace is actually in the mountains, very far so we go there by portal and come back the same way " Elvenia said.
" If it's in the mountains wouldn't it be cold? " I said.
" Oh it is, but the palace is very warm " Dillon said.
" Scouts! "
" Fairies!, Fly! "
We all hear mini screams from all the fairies and they all fly up to the big chandelier, it was pretty because of the different colors of dust on the ceiling as we see the golden retriever jumping trying to get them. We then see Garroth grabbing him by the harness he has on, he stands there and look at everyone staring at him.
" Sorry " he said.
" Come on boy " he pulls Scouts and they walk away.
" If he's bringing that dog I swear to god I'll put it in a cage where it belongs " I hear a mutter behind me.
I look over my shoulder and see the familiar girls who sat behind me in alchemy. I roll my eyes and turn away to the girls again, I look up at the fairies who flies down safely to us.
" Are you alright? " I asked, Elvenia nods and just slump on my shoulder like a baby that needs to be burped.
" I hope miss Layla bring him with you guys " she cries.
" With us?, Are you not going? " I asked.
She flies off my shoulder and shake her head.
" We can't go there, our wings are too thin even with the warmth " Dillon said.
" They'll freeze up quick and we'll end up with a broken wing " Aurora said.
" And we're useless if we're flightless " Elvenia said.
" Oh, bummer, I was hoping you could come " I said.
" Don't worry, just stay with us and don't go anywhere to stay out of trouble " Lumina said.
" It's my first time in the palace so, your basically saying there will be trouble " I said.
" Don't jinx it " Rowena said.
" Y/n " I turn around where my name is called and I see Derek in his fancy ass clothes.
I approach him.
" What? " I fold my arms.
" Bring this with you " I see he has a rectangular black box in his hand.
" What's this? " I asked and open it.
I see a pair of black leather gloves that is a match to my outfit.
" Gloves? " I look up at him.
" It's cold in the palace, thought you might need them, they're the highest quality " he said.
" What's got into you? " I asked and take the gloves out.
I set the box beside me as I put them on.
" I know you were pretty upset about last night and thought I could get you something that makes you feel less inferior " he said, I snicker.
" Don't beat yourself up old man, might actually break a hip, anyways thanks, these are mine now " I squeeze my hands to feel how comfortable they are, it's soft on the inside.
" And stay close to me when we go there " he said.
" Why?, Your meeting with the king while the girls go with the queen, that'd be awkward if I go with you " I said.
" The leader of the L/n family is your possible mother's husband's brother, she's a mage but she got sick, she will not be attending the banquet, her husband passed away long ago, and she has five sons, two of them are twins attending the banquet from another school " he said.
" Five?!, Wow, they really hit it off on that honeymoon huh? " I laugh.
I then yelp when he hit my head.
" Hey! " I rub my head and he shakes his head.
" You will be joining me as my assistant " he said, I snicker.
" I was right after all, I'm a secretary now "
" And before we go, watch your mouth " he said.
" I can't watch it " I look down and bare see my lips.
" You know what I mean " he said in annoyed tone.
I smile up at him.
" We'll see how it goes first " I said, he sighs.
" You mentioned about her husband? " I asked.
" He died in battle when you were a babe, so she raised all of her kids alone " he said.
The bell then chimes.
" Alright everybody!, Prepare yourself! " We turn to see miss Layla by the door.
Mrs. Zvahl takes over with her staff she has in hand, the green emerald jewel glows as she spoke a few words of incantation, in second the door somehow split and opens widely with a purple outline of mist, I can see the other side which is all snowy, I can feel the breeze from here as well.
" First time seeing snow? " Derek asked.
" It never snows on the outer lands "
Oh!, I'm excited to write the next chappie!, Also sorry for the delay, I didn't expect the aranara quest in genshin would be so long!
