I was excited to meet Kayden's family but a little nervous as well. I wasn't sure what they would think I was to Kayden.
"You clean up nice." I smiled.
"So do you, Julia. Are you ready to go?"
"Let me grab the cookies."
Once in the jeep, I kept my eyes glued to the door window looking at all of the beautiful houses and scenery.
"You are very quiet over there Julia."
"Just taking in this gorgeous scenery. Can you take me to the fishing hole before we leave?"
"Sure if not today definitely tomorrow." He laughed.
We pulled up at this mansion-looking house and my mouth dropped.
"My parent's house."
"Well, this is beautiful Kayden."
"Let's go in so you can meet everyone." He smiled.
God his smile was panty-dropping.
We walked in the front door and all I could see was a huge staircase.
I followed him into the kitchen and I recognized his dad right away because he looked like him.
"Dad this is Detective Julia Holgate."
"It's just Julia." Nice to meet you, Mr. Cresswell."
"Just call me Dane." He smiled.
A woman walked into the kitchen and she was smiling and rushed over to me and wrapped me in her arms.
"Oh, you must be Julia! I am so glad you came. I am this one's mom but you can call me Pria."
"It's nice to meet you. My Aunt Remi made these cookies for you."
"Mom you will love these," Kayden said.
Pria took the lid off and gasped when she saw all of the cookies.
"Oh, I'm hiding these from the guest." She laughed.
I ended up meeting his grandparents. Rob and Kay and then Simon and Yvette. A little later I met his Uncle Aaron and Aunt Sophia and her husband Preston.
And lastly, I met the bride Lauren as she was getting ready for her big day.
"I have heard so much about you. So you carry a gun?"
"I do!"
"Who knew Kayden would find him a girl."
"Oh, Lauren you have it wrong. We are just working on a case together."
"Weddings bring people together." She sung.
I couldn't help but shake my head. I went to find a bathroom and when I came out Kayden was standing at the door.
"I thought you got lost." He laughed.
"No, I was in the room while your sister was getting ready."
"Ready to go take our seat?"
"Sure I am ready. Your family is really lovely."
He smiled over at me as he let me in the aisle to sit down and he sit beside me. I don't think I have set this close to him before.
Kay was beside me and she patted my hand. "I am glad you made it. Pria has talked about you nonstop."
I smiled at her and focused straight ahead as the wedding music started playing.
Her bridesmaids had on a shiny blue color dress with white and pink flowers in there hands.
I never dreamed of having a wedding but since meeting Kayden I know I would like to have all the mushy stuff and an outdoor wedding. Oooh, a beach wedding.
Kayden leaned over and whispered in my ear. "Are you ok?"
"I am perfect." I smiled even though I had cold chills all over my body after he whispered in my ear.
Lauren came out and we all stood up and she looked beautiful on Dane's arm. She looks just like Pria and I glanced over and Pria was wiping her eyes as her father had his arm around her.
The wedding was beautiful and when she kissed the bride my heart rate sped up because I could feel Kayden's eyes on me.
I wanted to kiss him and crawl in a hole at the same time. Once the wedding was over I followed him over to the table to sit down.
It was fancy because plates were sitting in front of us with what I believe to be chicken and then red wine.
"My family isn't this fancy this is all Lauren's doing."
"I love the whole thing. It's every girl's dream."
"To have fancy food?" He laughed.
"No to dress up and have a fancy wedding."
He smiled over at me.
I have never cut chicken with a fork but everyone else was so I did too.
Kayden's grandparents Simon and Yvette sit down beside us. "So you are a cop Julia?"
"Detective grandpa," Kayden said.
I smiled over at Kayden.
"Is it dangerous work dear?" Yvette asked.
"Yeah, I got shot a few months ago."
"Oh no! But you are ok?"
"I am now." I smiled.
"Where at may I ask?" Simon said stuffing his face.
"Stomach."
"Oh goodness!" Simon said.
"She wears the bullet around her neck."
"Just as a reminder."
"Do you have it on now?" Kayden smirked.
"I do under my dress pulling it out and Simon laughed and Yvette smiled.
"It's not the best accessory for a wedding but I never take it off."
Pria came over smiling. "Julia those cookies are to die for! They are so beautiful as well. I am going to buy some from the website."
"Aunt Remi takes pride in her cakes and cookies." I smile.
After the couple cut the cake and did their dances Kayden got me by the hand and led me to the dance floor.
"You don't mind this dance do you?"
"Absolutely not." I smiled wrapping my arms around his neck trying to not stand too close.
When a slow song came on he pulled me closer and my body was reacting to it. I wanted to press my breast against his chest and run my fingers through his hair.
When the music stopped he run his fingers down my back and I could feel the goosebumps popping up on my arms.
"Thank you for the dance, Julia."
"No thank you. I haven't danced in a long time."
"Thanks for coming with me Julia."
"Anytime." I smile at him.
