The solitary soldier as he steps forward on the front line
Has no desire to march on against all the shots fired,
Yet when bugle sounds and shouts transpire
He will raise his fist and charge into the pyre -
His own wants and wills and selfish desires
Put to rest as the call of devoir
Calls at volumes much, much high'r.
