Hug

I wish I could have hugged you once
Before our time had come and gone
I wish I could have seen you smile
Or walked beside you for a while
I wish I could have seen you grow
But these things I'll never know

You came like a ray of light after light rain
And washed away the dirt and dark stains
You came like a burst of color on canvas
And stole my heart like a cunning bandit
You came and brought with you a new dawn
But now, little sister, you are forever gone

I wish I could have patted your head
And taught you to hold it high
I wish I could have seen you wed
Or written stories with you every night
I wished our together would never end
But now I wish I can learn to love again
