Isn't It Sad?

Isn't it sad
That success must escort tears
As if the effort to achieve
Was overwhelmed by fears
of failure much too real?
Isn't it sad
That sans a deluge
Triumph is seen as minuscule —
Nothing worthy of jubilee
simply because
Spirit was not squelched,
Soul was not crushed
in the making of victory?
If collapse was modest risk,
Success is paltry
And wishes of luck too faulty
To whisk triumph from the hands
of the underdog.
If aspirations met expectations
Then demonstrations of
Just qualifications
Fall on mute hands that lack
Strength behind dilute claps.
Isn't it sad
That we look down
on those who were not lucky?
Isn't it
Sad?
