They say knowledge is power,
But the weight of it can crush you.
Things you wish you didn't know
Drag you down like a heavy stone
Tied to your ankles like a prison ball.
And try as you might to forget
It hovers around you like a blanket
And covers you in cold sweat.
They say knowledge is truth,
But the taste of it can be sour.
Things you thought you wanted
Become repellent and rotten
Turning black kettle to pot.
And all that you do to escape
Turns into a reminder tape
As the dread memories take shape.
