I would have given you my all
but you turned your back.
So I crawled into a cave,
rolled a boulder and closed it shut.
Then I lay in my solitude
cocooned in shadows,
lit a fire, and read a book.
And when I emerged
I saw that you were gone.
The direction of your path unknown.
but I had no desire to follow.
I stood under the touch of sun
and released all the boulder had bottled.
I watched it disperse into the wind,
split into four, and grow.
Then I watched it lure in traps
and enchant with rawness borrowed.
And when you threatened to return,
I stood under the touch of sun
with the shadows at my back
and no desire to wallow.
