If Not Now, When?

If not now, when?
Later. Isn't it obvious?
You can't do everything
so urgently at top speed
flying through skies
like a bullet in bullet time.
It's not healthy.
You can't just blip
from one point to the next
without pausing for a breath
or first taking a step
in its direction.
Sometimes you just have to
stop and smell the rows
and rows of roses
before you go back to
your explosion of now,
nows, right this second,
suddenly, last yesterdays,
and how is this not over yet?
You don't have to do everything,
especially every second.
You don't have to move
in a lightning fashion.
You can, when it suits you,
just for an instant,
or maybe a few or more,
at any time of day or night
or afternoon or sunset,
without reason other than
that you might need or
want or get distracted,
take the time to stand still,
look across the horizon,
envision serene landscapes,
and watch as the sun rises
or sets in spectacular
happenstance that just so
happens to be as common as
pausing for a single second,
gathering your thoughts,
and returning with balance.
