A couple days have passed since we burned Peter's journal. The nausea I was feeling has honestly subsided a lot but I was still getting some intense morning sickness.
Today was our second doctors appointment with Amy. I was excited to get to see the little baby inside of me because it has been too long.
I was also really excited for Colby to be at this appointment since he wasn't at the first one.
"Babe! Let's go!" I called out as I bounced the girls in my arms. "Daddy is such a little princess." I mumbled as they giggled and looked up at me.
"Yeah, he's more high maintenance than us. I think it's because he straightens his hair." I said then turned towards the stairs.
"I'm gonna get the girls in the car!" I called out then turned to leave the house. When I got to the car I got the girls settled into their car seats.
"Are you guys excited to see your baby brother or sister?" I asked and leaned into the car so I could tickle Nova and Luna's tummies.
"Yeah! It's exciting!" I said as they giggled loudly and looked up at me. I caressed their cheeks for a second before I stepped away so I could close the door.
"There you are." I said as Colby jogged out of the house. "Yeah, sorry. I'm just running behind today." He said then got in the drivers seat.
"It's alright, we have plenty of time." I as we got settled in. "That's why I love you." He said then put his hand on my thigh.
"I wear the pants." I said with a giggle as he started driving. "I wouldn't go that far." Colby said as I turned to look at the girls.
"Girls, does mommy or daddy wear the pants?"I asked and looked at them. They looked at me through the mirrors on the back seats since they were facing backwards.
"They said mommy." I said after a moment of silence. "No, they didn't." Colby said with a laugh as I shook my head.
"Nope. They definitely did, I heard them." I said then looked out the window. "They also said that you are obligated to get me chicken nuggets and a milkshake." I said as he breathed a laugh.
"Wow they have a great vocabulary for six month olds." Colby said as I nodded. "Yeah, they're super smart." I said and put my hand on my belly.
"Maybe after the appointment we can get you some nuggets and a milkshake." Colby said as I scrunched my brow.
"Maybe?" I asked and looked over at him. "Maybe." He said then squeezed my thigh.
I knew he was trying to assert dominance which was hilarious because we both knew that neither of us wore the pants.
We were a really great team.
When we got to the doctors office we pulled Nova and Luna out of the car and got them situated in the stroller.
"Okay, cuties! Let's go see baby brother or sister!" I said then led the way towards the office. When we got inside we checked in at the front desk then went to sit in the waiting room
"Are you excited?" I asked Colby as he nodded. "Yeah, I feel bad I wasn't here for the first appointment." He said as I shrugged.
"You were in Europe. You can't really control that." I said with a laugh. "I guess. I'm here now though." He said then put his hand on my belly as a nurse came into the room.
"Come on back, Violet." She said with a smile. "Let's do this." I said then stood up. Colby stood up with me then followed me with the stroller.
When we got to the room the nurse started taking my vitals. "How have you been feeling?" She asked and took my blood pressure.
"I've been so sick. I think it's just first trimester sickness but it's been so hard." I explained as she wrote something on her clipboard.
"Probably, I'll note it though so Dr. Port can go over it with you. Anything else that you have concerns about?" She asked as I put my hand on my belly.
"Nope, I think we're all good." I said as she nodded. "Perfect! I'll send Dr. Port in shortly." She said then left the room.
As soon as she did this Luna started fussing. "Oh no. What's wrong pumpkin?" Colby asked and pulled her out of the stroller, trying to soothe her before she woke Nova up.
"She either want you to just snuggle her or she's starting to teeth because I fed them before we left." I said as he lifted Luna's lip slightly so he could look at her gums.
"Hmmm..I can't really tell." Colby said as Luna cried. "Run your finger along it, you'll feel them." I said as he nodded and did it. "Oh, shit. Yeah, I feel them." Colby said as I frowned.
"Oh no...Luna bug." I said with a frown and stood up so I could grab a teething toy from the diaper bag. "Here you go, my love." I said and handed her the little ring that had an owl on it.
As soon as I did this she put it in her mouth, chewing on it. "You're such a good mom." Colby said and bounced Luna on his lap.
"You're such a good dad." I said then crouched in front of the stroller to make sure Nova was okay. Luckily she was still sleeping because Amy was now coming into the room.
"Hey guys!" Amy said as she waved. "Oh my god look how big they are getting. And hello Colby it's nice to see you this time." She said with a smile.
"Nice to see you. Thanks for keeping Violet sane at the first appointment." He said as Amy came over to me.
"She did great. This must have been a surprise for you." She said as he nodded. "Big time. A good surprise though." He said as I nodded and put my hand on my belly.
"So it looks like you've been getting really sick?" Amy asked as she grabbed my chart. "Yeah, like morning sickness but all day every day." I said with a sigh.
"Okay, I'm gonna run just a couple tests just to check for any bleeding or anything out of the ordinary. I don't think that it's anything but pregnancy itself but I still want to check." She said then typed something into her computer.
"Anything else you have concerns about?" She asked as I shook my head. "Nope." I said and shook my head.
"Alright, I'm gonna order some tests for you, we'll do a quick ultrasound then I'll send you to get bloodwork done. Sound good?" She asked as I nodded.
"Sounds good." I said then looked at Colby. He was looking down at Luna, making sure she was okay as she aimlessly chewed on her teething toy.
I thought it was so cute how protective he was over our girls and how obvious it was that he would do anything for them.
I watched him for a second before he looked up. "What?" He asked as I shook my head. "Nothing." I said with a smile then looked at Amy.
"Okay. Let's look at the little bean." She said and pulled the ultrasound machine to the side of my bed.
"You know the drill." Amy said as I rolled my shirt up. "Yep." I said as she squirted the warm gel on my belly.
"Alright, showtime." Amy said as I reached my hand out to Colby. He grinned then took it as Amy set the machine up.
"Okay, here we go." She said and pressed the wand onto my stomach. We watched the screen for a little while before Amy pointed to it. "There's the baby." She said with a smile.
"Hi, honey." I said and waved to it. "You're so cute." Colby said with a laugh as he leaned over and kissed my head.
"No, the baby is cute." I said as Amy examined it. "It's looking good as of now, I'm gonna listen to the heartbeat." She said then flipped a switch on the machine causing the sound of a heartbeat to play.
I smiled and looked at the screen, feeling pure joy as we listened to the heartbeat. It still shocked me that I was able to grow a human inside of me.
"Sounds good." Amy said then looked at us. "Any questions before I send you to get some bloodwork done?" She asked as I shook my head.
"How far along is she? Also is it twins again?" Colby asked as Amy breathed a laugh.
"She's 14 weeks and no twins unless we have another Luna on our hands." She said and took Luna's hand, wiggling it so she would giggle.
"One set of twins is good." I said as Amy cleaned my belly up. "It would be very rare to have another set of hidden twins, so I think you're good." She said as I nodded.
"I think you underestimate how bad Violet's luck can be." Colby said as I breathed a laugh. "That's true." I said as she shook her head.
"I guess we'll have to see then." She said then put the cart against the wall again.
We finished up our appointment with Amy then went down to get me some bloodwork. Nova eventually woke up so Colby decided to take them to the car while I got my tests done.
While I waited for them to call me back I looked down at the sonogram that Amy had given me and smiled.
It was still so surreal to me that we were pregnant again but I was just so excited. I couldn't wait to go to Colby's parents for Christmas because we were going to surprise them and Gage with the news.
I was actually really excited to tell them so I could see their reactions.
