[It was partly because the path was difficult
there was also a noose of sorrow around my neck
It was partly because the people were cruel
And also I was attracted to death.]

THE WOMAN WAS BUSILY WATERING THE PLANTS WHEN SOMETHING PECULIAR CAUGHT HER EYE, It was Dilainoor, she was rushing inside the haveli as if following someone in hurry.

Gul bano quickly placed the hose on ground before wiping her hands with a cloth and sneakily moving inside to check the spectacle.

Daryab Khan entered his room and threw his phone on the bed, deep in frustration.

Dilainoor was tensed, she had heard Daryab Khan attend a call and receive news regarding Jalal Shah and her heart had picked up its pace.

"Daryab kya baat hui hai? Jeeju theek tau hain?" She hesitantly asked out.

"Samajhta kya hai akhir khud ko wo shaks?!

Usko lagta hai kay ham par haavi parh sakta hai! Khushi tau mil gayi mujhay, jo chahta tha wo mil gya lekin uss ki khud ki bina par, nafrat hogayi hai mujhay Jalal Shah say!" Daryab Khan growled out his words venomously

And Noor started feeling claustrophobic all of a sudden. "K-kya b-bol rahay hain aap? Jeeju Kidhar hain Daryab?" She cried out.

"Jidhar hai wahan say ab khud Allah hee bachaye tau baat banay,

lekin Insha'Allah, phansi charhay ga Jalal Shah!" His inhuman statement paled Noor. She looked at him all mutely while the man didn't even bother meeting her gaze.

"Aap hosh Mein tau hain na Daryab? Soch bhi nahi sakti thi mein kay aap itnay gir jaye gay!" She spoke out lowly while continuing to eye him.

Daryab Khan whipped his head towards her. "Dil tumhay Meinay hazaar dafa samjhaya hai meray maamlon mein mat bola karo!"

"Kyun na bolu haan? Hotay kaun hain aap jeeju kay baaray Mein faisla karnay walay?!" This time the words were screamed out and Amna who was walking by the room quickly rushed inside to check the reason for the quarrel.

"Noor yeh tum kis tarah baat kar rahi ho Daryab say!" She scolded her daughter while Daryab Khan was still stunned by the sudden outburst of Noor.

"Ammi iss buzdil shaks ki tarafdaari mat kijeye ga!

Inhon nay jeeju kay khilaaf jaanay ki jitni koshish mumkin thi utni kee! Lekin aap b yeh baat jaan lay Daryab! Jeeju ko koi kuch nahi kar sakta."

This humoured Daryab Khan who let out a cold chuckle in return.

"Hawalaat mein band hai Tumhara Jeeju! Ab uska bachna bilkul bhi mumkin nahi!" He spit out his words harshly.

Noor and Amna couldn't believe their ears. It took a second for Noor to process the information before she flung herself at Daryab, "Aap nay pakarwaya hai unhay! Aap bohut buray hain, mein aap say kabhi baat nahi karu gi!"

Noor's words turned died down into hiccups as tears started running down her face.

Daryab Khan took his collars away from his wife's claws and turned his face away with a clenched jaw.

"D-Daryab y-yeh kya keh rahi hai? Tumnay pakarwaya Jalal ko? Daryab mujhay jawab chahiye!" Amna's voice turned firm now.

"Ammi in say kyun puch rahi hain aap? Yeh sab tau zulm kartay waqt kabhi nahi sochtay! Qatil hain meri aapi ki khushiyon kay!

Inhon nay tau iss baat ka paas bhi nahi rakha kay abu nay Jeeju ko pasand kiya tha! Abu ko kitna maan tha jeeju pay, shayad Daryab nay tau kabhi abu say pyaar kiya hee nahi!" Noor sneered out at the man,

And each word felt like a cold slap on face for Daryab Khan.

He blew out air and fisted his hands before speaking out, "Chachi aap logon ko samajh nahi! aap logon ko kuch maloom nahi, Uss raat ain mauqay, mein maujood tha! Mujhay behtar pata hai sahi ghalat Mein farq!

Jalal Shah nay goli chalayi thi, kalashinokov uskay Hath mein tha! Fingerprints bhi ussi kay milay hain, Sab gawahi denay ko tayyar hain uskay khilaaf, iss sab kay bawjood andha ban jaun Mein?!" Daryab Khan spoke out in grave fury.

Amna was scared now. "Daryab tum aisay kyun keh rahay ho? Aisay mat karo Daryab, meri beti ka ghar basnay say pehlay hee ujar jaye ga!" She helplessly argued.

"Chachi sahi hai, mein aap ki baat samajh raha hun, lekin mujhay bhi tau samjhay aap dono, agar uss din ham pakar letay tau maan nay wali baat thi, wo aapni be gunnahi sabit kar deta, lekin khud ko dheethai kay sath hawaalay kar diya, Matlab uski ghalti thi, aur ussay maloom hai!

Aur iss baat say yeh bhi sabit hogya kay meray apnay banday Jalal Shah kay sath raabtay Mein hain!" He voiced out with a feral tone.

Noor's guard was raised suddenly,

"Ek dafa wo kameena shaks mil jaye, jis nay uss Jalal Shah ko hamaray mutalliq khabar pohnchayi, chorna nahi hai meinay!, Aur aap dono ko bhi saaf saaf bata du, Anabiya Aur Jalal Shah kay maamlay mein meray say koi umeed mat rakhiye ga!"

Daryab Khan grabbed his belongings before finally leaving.

Amna saw her daughter frozen in her position and tried consoling, "Noor bachay, pareshan mat ho, Sab theek hojaye ga, Allah pey yaqeen rakho"

Noor finally looked up at her mother and the lost look on her face clenched Amna's heart involuntarily, "Ammi? ... tang agayi hun iss zindagi say, kyun hamari zindagi mein sukoon nahi kabhi?" Her voice cracked down in the end.

Noor sniffled and wiped her tear stricken face with the sleeves of her kameez.

"Meinay call kee thi Jeeju ko, Daryab ko bhi pata Chal jaye ga aur-aur phir sab kuch khatam hojaye ga Ammi!" Noor tears were uncontrollably running down her face once again.

Amna's eyes widened and she quickly rushed to close the door of the room.

Getting satisfied by the locked door, she went back to her daughter and took Noor's shaking self in her arms.

"Kisi ko bhi batanay ki zaroorat nahi hai, tum nahi Batao gi tau kisi ko bhi nahi maloom hoga kay tum nay Jalal Shah ko call kee thi, Sahi hai Dilainoor?" Amna's voice turned stern now,

And Noor helplessly nodded her head while a fear in her heart kept on hurting from inside,

But the two remained oblivious to the point that destiny itself had different plans for them, as a woman standing outside the room with a distance made sure that she wasn't noticed but everything was to her complete hearing.

A smirk plastered on her face after hearing Noor's confession loud and clear.

"Ab tau tumhay Daryab say door karna bilkul bhi mushkil nahi hoga Dilainoor!" Gul bano thought to herself before moving back to the garden.

Jalal Shah was sitting on the charpai bed while the other two men were settled on the sofa chairs in front of his charpai.

"Saeen aaj shaam tak kuch team membraan aye gay aap say puch taaj kay liye, kisi nay aaj hee iss case kay ilawa saboot paish karwaye hain aap kay khilaaf!" The inspector informed the man.

A smirk settled on Jalal Shah's face as he intently focused his gaze over the water filled glass he held in his hand. "Ek aur? ... Kis ka case hai?"

"Dehshat gardi ka iss baar Saeen, anti-terrorism department kay hee banday aye gay!" The other inspector spoke out this time.

Jalal Shah sent a single nod coolly but tightened his jaw, the complexity of the situation was turning more and more severe with passing time.

"Saeen, waqeel badal lo beshak?, mujhay tau nihayat hee na qabil lag raha hai!" One of the inspector tried suggesting.

Jalal Shah let out a cold chuckle at the suggestion. "Nahi oye, kafi cases lar chuka hai, qaabliyat pey shak nahi mujhay, tagra mard hai, lekin jab tak madayee razi namay kay liye raazi nahi hongay, ... kuch mumkin nahi!"

"Kis ko bataun kay apnay hee amaal meray aagay aarahay hain, asal madayee tau Uper bethi zaat hai, aur ab uski puch ki baari aagayi hai" The man thought to himself while contemplating.

They were settled in the vast lawn of the police station. Where the rest of the prisoners were busy carrying out their assigned tasks, Jalal Shah was having his comfort to the possibly maximum potential.

He eyed the men present in the lawn, locked up in the station each with different cases, none of them were given the extravagances he currently had, all because of his connections, yet none of their case's intensity equalled to his.

He had it all estimated, most of them would be out in a only a little calculated time whereas the punishment or conclusion his case would hold in coming days or months or possibly years, had him pitying his own fate.

Truth be told, the conscious and aware part of his had actually died days ago, every part of his was numbed now, he couldn't even bring himself to care anymore.

Jalal Shah laid back on the charpai and started to gaze upon the open sky.

He hadn't imagined his end to be this miserable. Yet, he couldn't deny it as much as he wanted, his actions were being held account for. He was aware from the start that he'd have to die some day, face his lord, yet he had purposely gone ignorant to the fact.

"Yeh zindagi teri hee tau dain thi, sab kuch tau tera hee tha shuru din say, tu hee sab say qareeb tha meray, Teray hee paas laut kar aana tha, aur ab dekh, apnay anjaam pey dukh horaha hai,

Teray sath sirf ek mulaqaat kay baaray mein soch soch kar khauf kha raha hun, Itna mayoos kar diya hoga, kitna khafa kar diya hoga!"

He was deep in his thoughts when the guard entered the frame. "Saeen say milnay koi larka aya hai!"

"Kaun hai? Bol day kay Abhi milnay ki ijazat nahi!" Jalal Shah dismissively replied back while placing an arm under his head.

"Saeen aapka apna hee larka hai, ... Hassan!" The man informed and Jalal Shah got up in an instant. The vein on his forehead became prominent as he asked for a phone from the inspector sitting next to him.

He then punched down a few digits and waited for the other person to receive the call.

"Hassan kay ghar nahi gya tha tu?" The call was received on the first ring and Jalal Shah waited no time before inquiring in a firm voice.

"S-Saeen, gya tha, kafi dair baat hui meri Hassan say, us nay kaha tha kay kuch din tak bataye ga apna jawab.

Lekin phir call kar kay uss nay mana kar diya, aur phir uski details flight book karnay kay liye maujood hee nahi thi!" The travel agent quickly voiced out his response.

Jalal Shah's jaw clenched to the point his teeth gritted out, he ended the call and made his way out of the lawn to talk to Hassan himself.

Hassan's eyes had been uncontrollably filled with tears as he entered the Police Station, he couldn't even had imagined that Jalal Shah would ever get arrested one day or get locked up in prison.

Jalal Shah made his way towards the visiting room where Hassan was anxiously waiting.

Hassan got up from the chair as soon as Jalal Shah's presence filled the room. Whereas Jalal Shah's eyes quickly skimmed through the boy's entire frame before settling on the wall next to him, refusing to look at him.

The first and only thing that seemed different on the man in the eyes of Hassan was a peculiar chain locket tightly wrapped around the man's firm wrist.

"Kya kar rahay ho yahan?" The man's blood was boiling yet he tried keeping his anger at bay while forcing out the words.

And for Hassan, all rational thoughts flew past the boy's head, he had been preparing himself for the past hour on what he was going to answer but right after seeing the man and hearing his thundering voice, had him momentarily frozen.

"S-Sir w-wo meinay socha kay-kay, Falak, nahi Falak mam, Haan ... haan unhon nay hee b-bola tha kay Mein aap ka pata lagwa lu!" Sweat formed on the boy's forehead all while stuttering out the words.

"Acha? Dekh liya? Tasalli hogayi ho tau tashreef wapis lay jayiye ga!

Anwar ko bheja tha meinay, tum sab ko bahir bhijwanay kay liye, aur tumhay maloom tha wo mera hee Banda tha, phir meri baat say kyun dusri ki?!" The gritted out words had Hassan turning his focus of gaze down on the floor as if ashamed

And the certain act had all the anger in Jalal Shah's eyes, dissipated away.

"S-sir wo.. Falak mam aur Ammi nay inkaar kar diya tha, aur-aur aapko iss tarah chor kay mein .. Matlab ham sab nahi jaa saktay thay" Hassan guiltily spoke out his words.

Instant amusement sparkled in the onyx eyes as they now softened.

"Meinay konsa rukna tha yahan, iraada mera bhi Anabiya ko lekar tum logon kay paas America hee aanay ka tha jab tak case ka kuch banta!" The man's reply had all the heaviness on the shoulders of Hassan, erase away.

Tears filled in Hassan's eyes once again as he quickly blinked them away let out a little chuckle, "S-Sir yeh kya hogya achanak say?"

Jalal Shah saw the boy relaxen a bit and let out ab easy smile, "Kuch nahi hua yar, Falak ka aur apni Ammi ka bohut khyal rakhna hai ab tum nay Hassan!" His voice turned somewhat serious once again and the boy nodded.

"Ainda baad jail nahi ao gay tum! Mein nahi chahta tum, ya mera koi bhi larka yahan ka chakkar lagaye aur meray maslon mein paray!" The man advised.

Hassan looked up him with worry in his eyes, "Saeen aap nay kuch socha hua hai iss sab ka hal?"

"Nahi Hassan, sab saboot meray khilaf hain lekin waqeel kuch bandobast kar raha hai, koshish tau lagi hui hai, ab aagay ka maloom nahi!

Deray pey chakkar lagaya hai kya? Akbar nay bataya hai kay kothi wapis khulwa dee hai, gaon say koi aya hai kya?" The man inquired.

"Jee sir, Badar Saeen aaye hain! Unkay ghar walay bhi sath hee hain tau bus rihaish kay liye wapis khulwayi hai!" Hassan had made sure to keep an check and balance on everything while Jalal Shah was away.

"Badar Sahab aye hain? Koi wajah batayi?"

"Jee, gaon mein sab ko hee maloom hogya hai kay apko hiraasat mein Ley liya gya hai, bus shayad aap kay case mein madad karnay kay liye aagaye ho?" Hassan suggested.

Jalal Shah walked past Hassan to sit on the chair present, the cogwheels in his head were working rapidly, trying to connect the dots. "Meray khandaan ka koi bhi fard itna Acha nahi hai Hassan!

shayad yehi wajah ho, lekin aa hee gaye hain tau ek kaam karo, Falak ko wapis kothi bhej do, inko baatain bananay ka mauqa nahi dena chahta mein!" The man grunted out his words and Hassan readily nodded.

"Jee behtar sir!"

"Khud bhi roz chakkar lagao ghar kay, lekin mein chahta hun kay Badar Sahab kay nazron kay saamnay tum kam hee ao! Agar kuch puchay tau Haider ko hee baat ka jawab denay do, sahi?"

Jalal Shah was aware that compared to Hassan's respectful and stalwart nature, Haider had a more reserved demeanour and it would've been better if things remained in an compact manner.

"Jee Sardar Saeen, aap fikar hee na karay, sab kuch sambhaal lay gay ham!" Hassan affirmed the man.

Jalal Shah was about to speak more when two armed men barged into the room. Jalal Shah rose an eyebrow and one of the uniformed men spoke out,

"Sardar Jalal Alam Shah, Tumhari tafteesh kay liye, tumhay hamaray sath chalna hoga!"

"Yeh kesay baat kar rahay ho tum Sir kay sath?, zuban sambhal kay baat kar apni!" Hassan couldn't help but get badly provoked as he got up in an feral stance in front of Jalal Shah.

"Hassan!" Jalal Shah called out to the boy as if telling him to remain low even though it was taking Jalal Shah himself, quite a lot of restrain to submerse his rage.

"Nahi sir, iss nay aap ko tum kar kay baat kyun kee hai? Hota kaun hai yeh? Saalay uniform pehen kar khud ko kuch samajhna shuru hojatay hain!" Hassan's words were laced with bitterness.

"Ham izzatdaar post pey faiz hain, tujh jaisay kisi kay aagay kuttay wali nokri nahi kartay!" The armoured man was quick to respond back arrogantly,

And that was enough to trigger Jalal Shah as his fury sprang to life.

He pushed back the chair while getting up and shoved away the wooden table ahead of him with such an intensity that it went flying across the room and smashed on the concrete wall on the side. The loud noise of the impact echoed across the room.

The man's face contorted with rage as his eyes narrowed into slits. "Tunay gaali kyun dee?!"

Pure ferociousness dripped off the words yet they were barely audible as if the man was trying hard to control himself and the armoured man backed off a little, finally realising the gravity of the situation."Dekhiye, aap ghalat sa-"

The throbbing vein showed itself on the neck as the man neared the police men and Hassan quickly moved towards Jalal Shah as if already knowing that there would be no stopping to the man's wrath till someone actually intervened.

"Maazrat hai-" The officer tried speaking again but it felt as if the apology itself was the unwinding and "Aa vey kuttiya!" Jalal Shah landed a single punch right across his face.

The blow sent the man fall on the ground as blood oozed out of his mouth.

Whereas Jalal Shah rolled his shoulders back before grabbing the bleeding man once again and landing multiple punches on his face all in aggression as rage pulsed through the man's veins.

"Hun kadd gaal!" (curse again so that I show you the consequences) The words were roared out so loud that the other man went almost immobile for a while.

Hassan quickly came forward and tried pulling Jalal Shah back whereas the other man started verbally threatening Jalal Shah to fall back or else he'd have to take immediate action.

Yet it seemed as if Jalal Shah was having waves of sheer anger overpowering his system and pushing back all rational thoughts. Mad frenzy pounded in him like a heartbeat.

The other man pulled out his gun out of the belt to finally put a stop to the violent blows but Jalal Shah was quicker and he snatched the gun before aiming
it at the semi conscious man.

And then everything happened in such a rapid movement that Hassan didn't even get time to comprehend the event.

Jalal Shah pulled back the trigger of the handgun and the bullet tore through the other man's knee, and even the single shot didn't satisfy the searing rage so he shot again but now on the other knee of the fallen man.

The voice of gunshots had the CIA team rushing inside to help their fellow mates and the one who's gun had been grabbed screamed out an order to arrest Jalal Shah immediately.

The damage had been done and it felt as if days of frustration and compression had been finally released from the man, the pain of being apart from Anabiya had completely tarnished him from inside.

He threw the gun on the side as he looked at the bloodied man with no regret or whatsoever. He was breathless with anger and his eyes were rimmed red with only call of murder, in them.

He turned around and his eyes connected with Hassan's and Hassan could sworn that he saw how broken the man actually was from inside because it was all that bare.

Hassan could only stare, powerlessly as two of the men handcuffed Jalal Shah while the rest helped the injured men.

Jalal Shah was dragged out of the room, and he willingly went away with them as his brain still refused to help his sane senses come back.

Only a single thought continued screaming through his brain that it was finished now, his last hope of ever reuniting with Anabiya finally dissipated into the air along with his anger.

All because of his own actions.

Blood was spattered across the white shalwar kameez of Jalal Shah and he mutely went out of the police station before a thick black cloth was placed over his head to cover his face and he was ducked into an large black heavily compacted vehicle.

Hassan ran out of the station but the car was long gone from his sight.

She was standing with the man.

They were looking in an empty hollow space ahead of them, a void with a blindingly bright light.

It was the same place, they had come along a long and ardent way together, they had defeated their demons by leaving them far behind.

Suddenly, the man's hand in Anabiya's hold slackened.

Anabiya took that opportunity to move ahead, her view cleared and the haze of light finally lifted away and she looked at the view ahead.

Her eyes widened and tears filled in them immediately as it was all so beautiful. She stood in the verdant vastitude of the dale, the sunbeam illumined the scenery immensely. The stratospheric mountains ahead of her view made everything better tenfold. She couldn't figure out even a single flaw in the lush green landscape and this had her sighing in bliss, as if she wanted to feel this much freedom for a while now. It all felt surreal.

A thought came through her brain and she grew aware of the fact that she had left the man behind all due to being busy in her sight-seeing.

Completely forgetting the beauteous place now, she walked back to the path where she had initially come from, she couldn't figure out why the man hadn't followed her behind.

She moved towards the same door and saw the man was still standing in the same position as if immobile. He hadn't crossed any space and the door was still behind him.

She confusedly covered the distance between them and looked up at him, the shadows had been left behind, she could see his face all clearly now, his face was in light, she could make out his facial linings clearly now, everything called home to her, she was happy, they were together, they could move to the serene place together now all away from the chaos.

She saw the man blankly look at her
As she stood right in front of him, the chain locked in his wrist was still visible and she extended her hand to grab his.

The hand felt so cold next to hers, unexpectedly her senses were heightened to the maximum. Anabiya saw him look down at their intertwined hands and saw tears well in his eyes.

A clawing feeling settled inwardly in her system and she tried moving him by his hand but it seemed as if he was so frozen in the spot that even he couldn't move himself even if he wanted. She felt so lost at that moment that a voice entered her ears.

"Jalal, ... chalain na?"
It was her own.

She spoke out helplessly and the impassive expression on the man's face changed  right after hearing her voice, it soon shifted into a one with all the vulnerability present.

The tears in his eyes became more prominent and then suddenly everything snapped into something so frightening that a scream left past Anabiya's lips.

The tears shifted into blood, his eyes had red dripping from them, yet his expression didn't change, it remained the same as blood started dripping out of his eyes and then oozing out of his lips, uncontrollably a lot.

Anabiya started screaming but they were alone, she had no help. She felt extremely desperate and helpless at that moment, she started shaking him as if wanting it all to stop, she couldn't do anything but watch as he started to completely finish away.

A painfully red mark covered all of his neck like a noose, the redness started enhancing around his neck till it started bleeding from it and Jalal Shah took away his hand from Anabiya's hold to try stopping the blood coming out of his neck.

Anabiya's brain stopped working and tears were running down her face as she kept on screaming for all of it to stop somehow, she couldn't bear seeing him suffer.

And then a strong breeze of force pushed her with such a power that she fell back in the place of light, whereas the man, who was still struggling to breath ahead of her was pushed back into the darkness.

Anabiya got up within an instant and ran towards Jalal but the door closed shut between them and she could only cry out his name while staring at the disappearing door.

It all ended as the girl breath out air and came back to life. The light in front of her eyes started pricking her vision and Anabiya started blinking them rapidly while struggling to breathe into the oxygen mask.

She could only hear a faint noise beside her till her eyes dosed off to close.
