I cough up blood as it fills my lungs.
Looking at my chest, I see a bullet wound and black blood soaking what’s left of my shirt.
Ilaria lays down in front of me.
"It’s something I made myself. I call it Reaper’s Blood. It destroys the nervous system and then attacks the blood cells. And eventually death.” Ilaria bragged about her experiment.
Glancing back down at my chest, my blood is slowly pushing the bullet out and healing itself.
Studying Ilaria's face, it morphed from impressed to shocked.
Her mouth slowly opens and closes again.
“How?” She mutters to herself.
“Because I’m special, bitch.” I said and kicked her flat in the face.
Which maked her fall over backwards.
I quickly got back up and, to my surprise, she was ready to fight before I was.
She threw a punch into my gut.
Coughing, I straighten up only to get hit in the face with the back end of her sniper.
That made me fall onto the ground again.
"Why don’t you just die already? You're a pathetic, depressed, and suicidal little fuck who should’ve died with your parents.” She yelled at me.
Within seconds, I’m standing in front of her, grabbing her by her throat with a tight grip and lifting her up off the ground.
She gasps for air and scratches my arm.
After a while, she stops and reaches for something behind her back.
With a swift move, she took out her knife and stabbed it into my arm, which went directly into my arm and the tip of the knife sticking out from the other side of my arm.
I didn’t even flinch because there was no pain to begin with.
I am looking down at the knife that is still stuck in my arm.
The escaped blood goes up instead of dripping down. They move like they have a mind of their own.
The black void of blood moves up towards Ilaria's face.
Upon touching her face, she lets out an ear-piercing scream.
Smoke starts to form from the blood as it burns her skin.
“Aahhh!” I scream, letting go of her and covering my ears.
I scream and fall to my knees, as if my eardrums are about to burst into flames.
Soon after, my vision started to get blurry.
Then it stopped.
Looking up at the battle field around us
They’re all down.
Dragons, werewolves, vampires, and natural soldiers
“Kai,” Vídarr calls.
I keep searching for him until my eyes eventually meet him.
He’s laying on the ground and leaning on his arms as he tries to pick himself up.
His face is covered in cuts and blood.
His left wing is broken with a bone sticking out of the wing.
A Hunter comes up from behind and pulls out her knife.
“Run!” That was the last thing he said before she grabbed his hair and slit his throat.
“Brother!” The Savage Twins screamed as their brother was killed.
I pick myself up from the ground and turn around and run towards the forest.
I fell onto the ground with ringing ears and a blurry vision.
They’re going to kill us all.
I need to do something.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
The Forest Army
“Forest Army, I need your help fighting them, and winning this war so it could be the last one. Please help me fight. ”
“Forest Army, I need your help fighting them, and winning this war so it could be the last one. Please help me fight. ”
“Forest Army, I need your help fighting them, and winning this war so it could be the last one. Please help me fight. ”
That was three times.
Tears started to fall freely down my cheeks.
After a while, nothing.
“Please!” I cried.
“Please!” I begged.
“Please,” I whimper.
The wind started to pick up.
“Yes?” A voice whispered in the wind.
Immediately, I stopped crying and looked up.
“And what do we receive in return?” The raspy voice asked.
“What is it you seek?” I said.
“A home.” It finally said
“If it’s what you want, then yes.” I use the word hurried.
“Deal?”
“Deal.”
After that, the fog came, followed by animalistic roars.
Getting back up on my feet, I take a few steps back as I emerge from the forest.
These creatures were giant.
Some are taller than 7 feet and others are just as tall as the trees.
They looked like humanoid trees with branches coming out of their sides and a mixture of roots, branches, and bark for the rest of their bodies.
Some of their faces looked like animal skulls as they were formed in that way, and others were just bark.
They were covered in moss and flowers.
They carry swords, bows, and staves.
One of them stopped in front of me and pointed their staves at the hunters and roared.
The result was all of them charging except the one in front of me.
“You don’t need the watch and necklace to open the gateway.” It sidestepped me and walked towards the battle field.
Then it stopped and turned to look at me.
“You are it.” It was said and charged.
I am it?
Looking down at the watch, I see the glass has a crack going through it.
Then realization hit me in the face.
I am it.
I got these things to open the gateway.
I am my own gateway
Taking off the necklace and looking at the items
These things won’t help me open the gateways because... I am the gateway.
That’s why I could always see them.
It’s me.
It was always me.
I opened my palms to let them go, making them fall onto the ground.
“I am the gateway.”
I close my eyes and extend my arms.
I slowly breath in an exhale a few time.
I am ready.
I can feel myself slowly being lifted up from the ground.
Everything is quiet.
The only thing you can hear is the wind blowing away leaves.
I lift my head and open my eyes.
Fluffy white clouds roam the sky.
“I am the gatekeeper.” I voiced
It’s time to finish this once and for all.
"I, Malakai Flynn Silwer, hereby give back what was taken from those around me. My friends, my family. Take my strength, my voice, my thoughts, my eyes. ”
I take a shaky breath in.
“Take my heart and take my soul because it won’t break ever again.” I exhale with tears streaming down my face.
This is it.
