New York had been left in the statehouse all by himself.

The others had left for their own reasons

DC went to buy groceries, being one of the only states that could do it without fucking up, if you didn't count the time he passed out in the fruit section cuddling a pineapple.

California went with to make sure he didn't do that, and to 'make sure he got everything on the list'.

Aka,

Try to sneak in the new switch game for the fifth time without DC noticing.

Texas had fucked off to God knows where.

Kansas had dragged Iowa to a cornfield. That was last night. They still haven't found their way out.

Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Maryland had left to go to the amusement park and a bunch of the others had decided that was a great idea and followed, much to the three's general annoyance.

Florida and Louie had said something about speedrunning Ikea while seeing who could get kicked out first.

And others he couldn't exactly remember what for.

That, was over half an hour ago.

With him being home alone he could finally do what he's always wanted to since he got here.

Belt out showtunes as loud as he possibly could and not have to worry about people hearing

He was in the middle of a dramatic performance of Good for You, hairbrush mic, choreography, different voices, and everything, when he turned around to see Alaska standing in his doorway, just watching.

New York shrieks, falling off his bed in suprise. He braced for his crash landing on the floor, but it never came.
Instead, he could feel two arms around him, holding him off the floor.

'Oh no'

He looks up to see Alaska's face, inches away from his own. He nearly imploded in the embarrassment.

"Jeez are you ok? Sorry for sneaking up on you like that"

New York can tell he's bright red but he's made the decision to ignore it, in hopes that if he pretends it doesn't exist, Alaska won't notice.

"You heard nothing."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah."

"Because I thought I heard the most exquisite voice. Always knew you were secretly soft under all that tough guy act. It's kinda cute really"

"You shut your mouth"

He could feel the butterflies in his stomach get worse. Why the hell did Alaska need to be so close? Close enough he could easily kiss him if he ever had the confidence to do that. Not...that he though about doing that..just..an observation.

Alaska laughs, and puts New York down gently.

"Alright then, have fun with your showtunes"

He waves over his shoulder before going back to the garage, leaving New York to bury his face in a pillow and wallow in his embarrassment.
