Also I wanted to make this angst but, ya know, I have enough of that for later

It had been a few months since Texas had become a state, DC essentially adopting him.
Things were still pretty awkward between the two, as to be expected, but DC wanted to bond more with him. He didn't know much, but he had heard the new states previous father hadn't exactly been good.

Texas had mentioned something before about wanting to go to a rodeo, but his dad never taking him.

It took a bit, but DC got a list of every nearby rodeo. With further investigation, DC had found that one of them, just so happened to fall on the kid's birthday.

Texas's birthday, and they were in the car.

DC pulls into the rodeo parking lot, Texas immediately perking up at what he could see.

"We're here"

Texas was silent for a few moments.

"Are we...."

"At a rodeo? Yes. You mentioned wanting to go to one a few times"

"Really??"

"Yes really, now c'mon, we gotta hurry up or it'll start without us"

Texas had stars in his eyes the entire time as he leaned forward in his seat. DC couldn't help but to smile. Afterwards, Texas hugged him, smiling wide up at him

"Thanks dad!"
