Mackenzie sat at the breakfast table, her mouth full of pancake, hot tea cooling down next to her bowl of fresh fruits, staring at Klaus and Rebekah who were arguing over the guest list. Elijah was sitting right next to her, a cup of coffee in one hand, and that day's newspaper in the other. He kept sighing and his siblings kept ignoring him. Mackenzie's eyes moved from them to him, perhaps expecting him to stop it all, or hoping he would.

"Why can't I bring my friends?" Rebekah asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

"What friends?" Klaus mocked. "You have no friends."

"Yes I do!"

"Name one."

"April. And Matt."

Klaus laughed. "April Young? The pastor's daughter? She doesn't count."

"Why not? She's helped me this year, and I've helped her! And she knows who I am, and she still wants to be my friend."

"So, this is who you call your friends, uh? A human teenager and a bartender who probably won't ever speak to you again since we tricked them into bringing back Kol."

"I had nothing to do with that," she brushed his comment away, however it was clear her brother's words were affecting her, as doubt settled in her mind.

"Fine, you can invite them if you want, they're not going to come, anyway."

"Yes, they will, you'll see!" she said, before storming out of the kitchen.

"Compelling them doesn't count!" he shouted after her.

"Was that really necessary, brother?"

"What? I just don't want her to get false hope," he faked concern.

"Do we really have to do this?" Mackenzie asked.

"Of course we do. You're a Mikaelson now, it's time to tell the world."

"Why does the world need to know?" she mumbled, making Elijah smile.

"We have plenty of enemies, Mackenzie. We have to show the world our family is strong."
