Elijah and Mackenzie arrived in New-Orleans in the late afternoon. The elemental was admiring every street, every corner, as she walked around town. The sunset made it look like the city was on fire. The streets and shops were crowded with tourists, and Mackenzie thought to herself that this was vampire paradise. She followed Elijah in the Quarter, where some women, whom Mackenzie knew to be witches, stared at her, some in confusion and surprise, others in suspicion and clear hatred. She guessed it was either because they could sense her own powers, or because she was with Elijah, or both. There they found the bar Katherine had told them about, Rousseau's, where they would find Jane-Anne Deveraux, and perhaps even Klaus.

The couple sat at the bar, and Mackenzie looked around, sensing power from everywhere. Though, she had been uncomfortable since she had set foot in the Quarter.

"The magic is weird around here."

"The witches of the French Quarter use ancestral magic. It's everywhere."

"Great," she mumbled. "Spirits of witches everywhere, what could go wrong..."

He placed his hand over hers and squeezed it gently.

"You'll be fine," he gave her a reassuring smile that she tried to give back.

"Hi, what can I get you?" the bartender asked as she appeared before them. She was a young beautiful blonde woman, who reminded Mackenzie of Caroline, and whose name tag said 'Camille'.

"A Martini, please," Elijah ordered.

"Olives?"

"Two."

"Three for me, please," Mackenzie said.

"You got it."

Elijah raised an eyebrow.

"I thought you weren't drinking anymore," he reminded her, as he remembered the promise she had made to herself the last time she came back sick from Cornelius'.

"I trust she's not trying to poison me to get my youth and powers," she replied with an unamused smile, "and since Klaus is probably not going to be too happy about us being here, I'm just getting ready for another one of his famous tantrums."

"Don't you think you should be sober to deal with his burst of anger?"

"Nah, I'll be fine," she waved her hand, dismissing his advice playfully, "he's too predictable at this point."

"You should not underestimate my brother."

"I'm not. I just trust you won't let him hurt me," she smiled, but he looked away, unamused. "Hey, I'm just kidding."

She cupped his cheek in her hand, making him look at her, and she stroke his cheek with her thumb.

"I'll be fine."
