'You're really not going?' Lisa frowned as we walked out of art for the day. Charlie was throwing a house party this Saturday, but my bitch of a mother had been insisting on our Saturday bonding days for the last few weeks.

'I'm sorry, Lisa. If I could get out of it, I would.' I sighed. 'Maybe I'll drop by once I've escaped the grasp of my evil birth giver.'

'You really don't get on do you?' Lisa laughed. 'What did she do? Did she cheat on your dad or something?'

'Or something.' I smiled awkwardly, signalling I didn't want to talk about it.

'Have a good weekend if I don't see you tomorrow.' Lisa smiled giving me a quick hug. 'Your boyfriend is here.'

I turned to see Logan, who gave me a quick hug and peck on the lips. 'Hey sweet cheeks.'

'Ugh, will you stop with that nickname?' He laughed. Over the last few weeks, we'd spent a lot more time together, and on Sunday, he took me out to dinner in a cute bistro and asked me to officially be his girlfriend. I said yes of course, after a mild panic about my worthiness and ability to be in a relationship.

'Only if I get take you out tonight.' I smiled, wrapping my arms around his neck.

'Are you asking me out on a date Miss French?' He teased kissing me again.

'Is that a yes?' I asked. He'd been so romantic, generous and patient with me so I decided to repay the favour with a starlight picnic in the park.

'If I have to.' He joked rolling his eyes.

'I could just ask Charlie to come instead?' I said, pulling out my phone to text him, when Logan snatched it from my hands. Charlie has hung out with us a couple of times and was a relentless flirt, and it drove Logan up the wall.

'Over my dead body, baby.' Logan grinned, kissing me again.

'Megan, Logan. It's time for class.' Gavin said with an unimpressed look as he stood in the door way of the classroom. I blushed before grabbing my phone back and walking into the classroom.

Logan met me after my therapy session, and we went back to my house to do some of the English project, and to pack for the surprise picnic under the stars.

'Hey pumpkin.' Dad said walking into the kitchen where we were just finishing up. 'Hi Logan. How was your day?'

'Good thank you Henry.' Logan smiled.

'Dad, do you know anything about mum trying to appeal Ben's sentence?' I asked, dodging any small talk.

'No?' He frowned sitting down. 'The lawyer is meant to call me if anything happens with that.'

'Our friend said she was round their's for dinner and that she said my uncle would be coming home soon because her project was going well.' I sighed, praying it wasn't true.

'I haven't heard anything Pumpkin, but I'll call the lawyer first thing on Monday and find out.' Dad said, giving me a hug. 'What are you kids up to tonight?'

'We're just finishing up with our project, and then we're heading out.' I answered.

'Megan is taking me out on a date.' Logan smirked, looking at my dad.

'Well pumpkin. Have him back by 10.' My dad joked, taking on the role as Logan's protective father.

'11?' I pleaded, fluttering my eyelashes dramatically.

'Fine, but not a second later.' He sighed. 'Are you guys eating before you go?'

'No we're taking food.' I smiled. We packed up our things and said bye to my dad, before walking to the park.

'So what's your plan to sweep me off my feet?' Logan asked.

'You say that as if I haven't already, sweet cheeks.' I laughed back, wrapping my arms around his arm.

'True.' He smiled, kissing me softly. We entered the park, and I laid out a big blanket and a couple of cushion, before we sat and started getting out the food. 'This is cute. Thanks Meg.'

The sun was setting, and we cuddled as we ate.

'Logan, can I ask about your dad?' I asked quietly at one point. He told me that his father had died when he was about 5, and his mother had turned to drugs in her mourning, becoming addicted and reliant on Cole who was her supplier until they got married.

'Sure. I don't remember much but the memories I do have were good. He was a mechanic so when I was old enough I started working at the same place. His co workers took me under their wing and we kind of became a family.' He smiled.

'You must miss him.' I said, cuddling into his chest as it started getting darker outside.

'Yeah I guess. I don't really remember him, so I guess I don't miss what was, but I miss what things could have been like now.'

'What do you mean?' I asked, drawing circles on his chest with my index finger.

'Like, what my life would look like if he was still here. If my mum never got addicted, of Cole was never in the picture. I wouldn't have to work to support my mum's drug habits, so I would have had more time to study. Maybe I would have been a nerd.'

'Do you think you still would have met me?' I asked curiously. 'Do you think things would be the same if we hadn't been able to bond over our shitty parents?'

'I don't know.' Logan sighed. 'But I know I'm a better person with you in my life.'

'I haven't done anything.' I laughed, rolling onto my stomach, while he laid on his back beside me.

'You didn't need to.' He smiled. 'Just knowing you made me want to be better. I regret so much how I treated you when we first met. Honestly, when we first met, Cole had just stolen all my savings and spent it on drugs, so I was pissed. Then you were just sitting there with my friends, looking all perfect and put together. I was jealous.'

'Jealous?' I frowned, as he played with a strand of hair that fell in front of my face.

'You were with my friends, and you guys looked so natural and happy. And you looked so composed and put together, and I took my anger for Cole out on you because you looked like what I wanted to be.'

'That was all a lie though.' I said, sitting up. 'I ran off to Charlie's room and had a panic attack.'

'I know. I judged you too fast, I made assumptions and I took my problems out on you. I'm sorry.' He sighed, sitting up. I wrapped my arms around his neck, before straddling his lap.

'Do you think I would be here if I hadn't already forgiven you?' I said, kissing him slowly. His hands rested on my hips, as we kissed, and I felt safe in his arms.

'I'm so lucky to have met you.' Logan sighed against my lips.

'I'm luckier.' I smiled. 'I wouldn't have been able to get through the move back here if I didn't have you.'

'You would have. You're strong all on your own, love.' He said between pecks.

'I'm stronger with you.' I smiled, my hands playing with his floppy brown hair.

We stayed in each other's arms for a few hours, looking up at the stars, in a comfortable silence, only exchanging a few words here and there.

At about 10pm, Logan's phone rang, causing him to frown as he answered. 'Mum?' His face dropped. 'O..okay. I'm on my way.'

'Logan? What's wrong?' I asked as he jumped up.

'My mum is in the hospital. She overdosed.' He said, tears threatening to spill. 'I need to go.'

'I'm coming with you.' I said, packing everything away. 'Let's drop the stuff back at mine and dad can drive us to the hospital.'
