"Well, this is déjà vu." Jade murmurs under her breath while taking a seat at the edge of my bed.

"I had to call for an emergency meeting. He's been lying here all day. Nothing will get him up." I hear Ethan say.

"He's depressed. Maybe we should get him some ice cream?" Adam suggests.

I lift my head up and see the three of them scattered around my bedroom. Their expressions tell me they're both confused and worried. "I don't want any fucking ice cream."

"That's how I know you're really going through it. Who would turn down ice cream?" Jade says while staring at me.

"Maybe we could order some pizza?" Adam helplessly shrugs.

"I don't need any food." I say while burying my face into my pillow. Right now I just want to block the world out.

"Since when are you off your diet?" Ethan raises a brow up as he glances at Adam.

"Since I'm always stress eating. I've been going back and forth between Grayson and Mackenzie for months. It's rough." He places a hand on his forehead and sighs.

"Wow, glad to know I have your attention today." I sarcastically remark while rolling my eyes.

"We were there for Mackenzie and now we're here for you." Jade keeps her eyes on me. A sympathetic grin forms on her mouth.

"I think this time everything is ruined. I know she said I wouldn't lose her as a best friend, but this seems pretty permanent. She chose to be with Connor." A frustrated groan falls from my lips.

"That's not entirely true." Ethan speaks up, and I glare at him.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"If you would've opened your mouth and confessed your feelings sooner, I bet she would've chosen you."

"I doubt it. She told him what we had was in the past." Those words were really hard to hear. It felt like somebody stabbed me in the chest and twisted the knife.

"Maybe she was lying." He goes back at me.

"Why is it so hard for you to say three words? It's so obvious that your mom was right." Jade questions.

"Of course she was right. Our mom knows everything about us, it's that weird superpower that she has. Plus we always knew deep down, Grayson would fall for Mackenzie. It was only a matter of time." Ethan leans against my dresser while exhaling a deep breath.

"This all happened during the summer? You didn't feel anything for her before then?" Adam raises his brow up. He seems unconvinced.

"I was too busy chasing after cheerleaders or sorority girls. Obsessing over women with fake extensions and huge tits was my main concern, especially in high school. I was a total player." I run a hand through my hair and slightly sit up.

Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if I fell for Kenzie when I was a teenager. Would we actually be together now? Would I be happy?

I know she was dating that asshole Richie for years, so she probably didn't think of me as anything other than her best friend. Even though there were a few times where we shared more intense moments with each other.

A specific memory floods to the front of my brain as I think back to high school. It's a moment I haven't thought about in years, but now I'm remembering it clearly. It was the first time my heart swelled for Kenzie.

"Actually, there was this one time in eleventh grade where I kind of felt something. It was a few weeks before she started dating her first serious boyfriend." I look at each of them.
