"Have you seen where Laurent had run off to?" Lysandra whispered to her cousin who was walking beside her. "He was not allowed into the court. I wonder if he is exploring the castle. It'll take him years to find us if he got lost, I bet."

"Maevis took him to their family mansion," Seraphine mentioned in a low murmur, ordering her to take a left in the corridor. "He is in safe hands, don't you worry."

They were walking deeper into the palace, behind the King and Queen, followed by Raffaela and Gavril. The walls were lined with flamboyant wallpapers, illuminated further by the coy lamps hung at regular intervals. It was the proper definition of royalty, just as described in the novels or perhaps, even better if Lysandra would consider herself esteemed enough to compare and judge.

But, at that moment, her concern lay with the looming colloquy. Her anxiety was skyrocketing as she played around with the ends of her long hair which had been irking her from the morning. She was not used to putting effort into her appearance and the fact that she had to do so just for the sake of her parents who didn't care about her angered her to no end. It was not the type of fury that she could shrug away after punching some scum bag, no. This was deep rooted, a built up since the last decade kind of anger, all due to the lack of proper love.

She never had a person to love her, treat her like she deserved to be and protect her. She was the metaphorical lone wolf and just as she found someone who cared enough, a family who accepted her, it was all brutally snatched away from her just to drag her to a place where she felt absolutely lonely yet again and to top it all off, she couldn't do anything about it all.

"If you would excuse us, please," Zemira spoke up, bringing Lysandra out of her reverie. They were positioned in front of a door, encrusted with golden flowers and patterns. Looking at the Queen, she realised that those words were directed towards the other family occupying the hallway.

Raffaela offered her sister a conceited grin, depicting clearly that they tolerated each other just for the public image and nodded to Seraphine and Gavril who turned away to leave.

"Micah would volunteer to bring the princess back to our chambers if she needs a judgement free place to stay at, your highness."
Raffaela's offer rose up the fire simmering within the rulers but, since self control was their side of the coin to have mastered, they kept their lips sealed as Lysandra nodded gratefully to her aunt who was attempting to look after her.

Eucarpus ignored the declaration and stepped into the room, closing the door behind him after demanding them to come in whenever they pleased.

"Trust me on this one, cousin dearest," Seraphine murmured, placing her lips close to Lysandra's ear. "It would be better if you don't tell them about Laurent."

Lysandra could comprehend that it was not some trivial issue to be ignored as an empty threat and hence, she nodded, offer her cousin and tight lipped smile. Gawping at her back whilst she walked away from them, Lysandra begrudgingly turned towards Zemira who was looking at her rather skeptically.
