Chapter 40 - Nothing Will Happen 🔥🔥🔥

Again, we knew his questions were rhetorical, so neither of us said anything more. If even Namjoon was met with such incredulity, then as a lowly company employee, I literally had no say.

PD nim shook his head in heavy disapproval, his eyes showed how hard his mind was working to find a solution for this nightmare.

"Even if... IF.." he emphasised. ".. I can stop all the videos from leaking, the forums will go crazy! You guys know how these things are!"

He was right. Even with the NDAs and company contracts, even if he requested everyone to delete these videos, there was no stopping people talking about it amongst themselves. And it only takes one nosy person to overhear and pass on this juicy tidbit of gossip.

"Okay, this is what we're going to do." Suddenly his face was determined. He was in CEO mode and had no more patience for mishaps. "We're going to get ahead of this, and make a statement to say that yes, you two are dating. This way, you 'hovering' around the boys won't be a big deal, especially to our fans. But know that this means that they will be scrutinising you too. Everybody on the same page?"

I had so many questions and felt a myriad of emotions. I was disgusted at the use of the word 'hovering'. like I was a vulture circling a carcass, or a fly on a humid summer day.

"But I'm not dating Namjoon sunbae." Was all I could manage. That was the truth, and I didn't know if I was prepared to pull of a charade with the whole world watching.

"Doesn't matter Y/N." Bang PD's voice drenched in 'no bullshit'. "This is the best way around this, because otherwise if this gets out, BTS's image as idols is tainted. If you're dating, there's a chance fans will back this and wish you well. Especially the international fans."

"Sir, with all do respect, she's right. We-" Namjoon attempted,  before I cut him off again. Repeating my earlier statement.

"But I'm not actually dating him." I restated sternly. "I'm dating Hoseok."

The last sentence just as much of a reminder to myself and everyone in the room. I had to remind myself of what Hobi would say to all this. He knew that we wouldn't be exclusive, but to take the title away from him too.... it would be terribly unfair to him to say the least.

My mind thought about what I could do, what I should have probably done a long time ago. "What if I quit? I'll leave and-"

"It won't matter, Y/N. The damage is done. I can't just terminate you." This time, it was PD nim who interrupted me. He had thought about this option too. "People will talk, followed by weeks if not months of paparazzi hounding you, as well as BTS' name through the mud. This way, you can do as you please, and still get paid for it."

But I wouldn't be able to do as I please. I'd have to smile and act like everything was alright with Namjoon, when it was far from it.

"You don't have to do this." for the first time since we entered the room, Namjoon was talking directly to me, reassuring me that if I wasn't up to this and the immense amount of pressure, I could just walk away. "This is our life, not yours."

"If I could give you my opinion.." I had forgotten there was a fourth person in the room amidst all this. It was one of BigHit's senior publicist and PD nim's personal advisor. Failing to say a word this entire time, he reserved his thoughts until he had assessed the situation well enough.

The CEO nodded and gesture for him to go on before the man in his 30s stood up and fixed his crinkled suit. "What if we say it was Jungkook that was caught kissing her? Spin it that way? Make sure all the videos are deleted, threaten to sue our employees with a contract violation, and make a statement about the nature of their relationship?"
