Chapter 26 - To Be Loved 🔥

So apparently some of you guys didn't know that the Jihye/Namjoon scene in Chapter 25 was a flashback? It was when they first 'crossed the line' into more than friends territory!

Just a reminder if a section is fully in italics it is a flashback/flashforward! And if one sentence or paragraph is in italics and everything else is normal, it is the character's thoughts. Feel free to ask me for clarification if anyone needs it 🤗

Jihye stood there stiff, frozen in time as she had her back turned to the man she was with. She briefly twitched before collecting the remainder of her things and proceeded to leave.

"What are you talking about?" She tried to brush off the topic and open the door. "Hey, let's go to that bistro we used to go to all the time.. Haven't been there in a while right?"

"I'm serious Jihye," Namjoon was unfazed, one foot on the stool, and the other on the ground. "Who am I to you?"

His eyes pressed her with a no-nonsense look. She had never seen him this resolved. There was not a trace of humour in his face and if looks could kill she would be at her funeral right now. For the first time, Jihye was scared of Namjoon. Scared of his determination, scared of answering his question, and scared of what he might do based on which lie she'd tell him.

Clearly not giving in until he got his answer, Namjoon was planted in his seat, despite the urging of the girl halfway out the apartment.

Jihye eventually pulled the door shut and approached him slowly, arms crossed. She let out a big sigh before touching the man's strong shoulders.

"Alright, if you really want to do this.." she heaved a sighed, her eyes met his patronisingly. ".. you're like a brother to me, okay? Now can we get going? I'm really hung—"

Swatting Jihye's hand away, Namjoon abruptly stood up to get further away from this woman he was doubting.

"A brother?" He scoffed, eyebrows raised, not buying a word she said. "So you're saying you hooked up with your brother?"

She bit her tongue at his response and wished she could swallow her words. She knew she answered wrong and the horror on her face showed.

"You know what I mean Joon.."

"No! I don't! And that's the problem! That's always been the problem!" The rapper was furious, all the frustrations he's felt throughout the years, he was finally giving her a piece of his mind.

His outburst was met with silence as Jihye struggled to come up with a rebuttal. She could barely look him in the eye. Namjoon has never found himself in this position before, but he trusted his gut when it told him to keep going.

"You know it's not like that. You know you always come to me when you're unhappy. You know I'm never your first option and always your back up plan."

Even though he wanted to desperately believe in Jihye and think the best of her, deep down inside he always knew.

".. and for once, I'd just want you to come to me when you're happy." He softly trailed off, looking away as he finished.
