The automated voice announced that it was my turn to get off of the train. But I was standing on the complete other side. Packed to the brim of the car, I was wondering how I could possibly reach the door in time.
I snaked my way around a few people, but it was proving difficult due to the extra layers everyone had on. It was another snowy day in Seoul and the gray skies reminded me of that, even if it wasn't snowing at this particular second. The seasons had shifted, and yet we were still getting days like these. As if winter was refusing to leave this gloomy city.
The last hurdle between me and the sliding glass doors was a group of school girls. Giggling gratuitously, gaggling about gossip.
"I can't believe Jungkook has a girlfriend!" whined an overly offended teen. She had barely hit puberty.
"I know," chimed in another prepubescent teenager rolling her eyes. "to one of their managers no less."
"That's crazy because I read that it was Namjoon that was dating her!"
"What?! Wasn't that a saesang fan?!"
"No, no that's Jimin!"
I squeezed myself out of that train like the last bit of toothpaste in a tube, heaving as I suddenly realised how much of a task that was.
Wish I could hear the rest of that conversation.
But then again why would I? It's idle gossip. Which is exactly what management wanted to fuel with my stunt in the Audi.
Hanna was actually understanding of the whole situation. When I finally managed to fill her in, she was more engrossed in learning the inner workings of the industry. We wondered how many other 'confirmed dating' couples were orchestrated like the one BigHit had scripted for Jungkook.
I walked through the underground passages like the hundred other humans on their daily commute. Rushing to places that didn't matter, and companies that would replace them in an instant.
Checking my phone to see if I was running on schedule, I realised, like most mornings, I hadn't had time to check my notifications. I had slept in again. Far too long after my last snooze.
(1) Voicemail
(1) Missed Call
That was weird, considering I didn't receive any new calls after waking up.
Must be from last night.
I thought to myself. I had gone to bed quite late, which meant this call had came through in the early hours of the night.
When I read that my midnight caller was Jimin, I was even more confused. The last time we actually had a conversation.. a real conversation, was the night of the Valentine's Day Gala.
What was it that he called me again..?
"A cheap fuck?" I felt gross and ridiculed. I couldn't believe the words coming out of this newly enlightened Jimin.
That's right. A cheap fuck.
"Good night Y/N." Jimin tucked himself away from me and turned off his night light. Ending this conversation on his terms. "You can show yourself out."
Disgust, disdain, and overall annoyance washed over me. What did he want with me now? It was probably a late night booty call after he failed to score.
Jimin from BTS not getting laid...? Get over yourself Y/N.
I waited patiently as the pre-recorded voice told me what I already knew, that I had a new message waiting to be played. I wanted to be right, I knew I had to be. He has to be the dick in this scenario.
