"Namjoon are you listening?!"
Everyone's eyes shot straight to the leader of BTS who abruptly stood up, nearly marinating the conference room table with his coffee.
"Y-yes sir!" It was not often that Bang PD had to rebuke him in front of all the other staff, but this time, Namjoon was very obviously not paying attention; and the meeting was specifically for his benefit. He quickly bowed out of respect, sitting down to hide his embarrassment.
To be fair, it was not often that Namjoon was distracted on the job, but recently, I had noticed how inattentive he has been. As if on cue, Namjoon's eyes drifted towards the window again. He looked like he was daydreaming, his mind preoccupied with everything but the present.
Is this because of Jihye?
I felt guilty, like it was my fault that he felt his way. Because at the end of the day, I knew it was.
Was it though?
I didn't put a gun to his head, or demand that he stopped talking to her. I just wanted him to care more about himself and his self worth. He made this decision all on his own, but I knew deep down that my ultimatum was a big reason he finally took the leap.
"Are you feeling okay?" Approaching him after the meeting concluded, it was the first time in a while that I had initiated any kind of conversation. I was genuinely concerned.
Namjoon smiled at me with that melancholic mug of his, and sighed before answering. "Of course I am, why do you say that?"
We both knew why I asked, but it was futile to keep pushing. He was going to deny how much not coming to Jihye's rescue bothered him, and yet he was still going to let it affect him so.
"Well next time, don't get caught by PD nim." I spat in a monotone, diluting the worry in my voice.
As I walked myself out of the meeting room and into the hallway, I was taken aback by a group of giggling gals. They were older, one even old enough to be a mum. But all as giddy as the fans that were right outside the window. Turns out, their ring leader was a YSL clad Jihye.
We made eye contact, and for a split second, she broke character from the bubbly fan girl she was, recognising me. In the two seconds I saw her, her expression changed. I knew she was surprised to see me near Namjoon again. After all, the last time we were in the same room together (if you don't count me watching them in the cloak room) was when Namjoon rudely ejected me from his embrace.
