Generally, when you're asked to formally meet the CEO of BigHit Entertainment in his office, that's not a good thing.

Thinking back to my employment, I don't think I've warranted any behavioural or work ethic corrections. I've always come (reasonably) on time, finished whatever work I was given on the day, and I've never leaked any company info to anyone outside. No matter how much begging Hanna did.

So when I received an email from Bang PD with details of the meeting request, I was little suprised to say the least. I asked the other assistants and manager-nims, but no one else was called, and no one knew what this was about.

As instructed, I came in earlier on the Monday morning through the glass doors that lead to his office. I was greeted by his secretary who told me to proceed to the next door.

"He's expecting you," she said as she directed me.

Hearing a "come in" after I knocked, I let myself in quickly and shut the door behind me.

"You wanted to see me PD-nim?" I asked as politely as possible. Even though every one got along with his easy going self, he was still the CEO of this company. His room, decorated with his achievements and the marble table, gave him a bigger sense of authority.

"Yes I did," he cleared his throat. "Come sit down."

I pulled out the chair he had gestured to and folded myself into the seat. I was so nervous, I could feel myself sweating under my layers.

"Don't be so worried," he smiled warmly as he finished the remainder of his paperwork. "You're not in trouble, just a casual conversation."

As reassuring as he tried to sound, I honestly didn't believe any of it. It'd be too good to be true. I've had to have done something to warrant his attention.

"Oh.. well that's good to hear.." I replied, as I reminded myself to smile back. "What can I help you with sir?"

"Oh it's nothing! I just wanted to get to know you.. You're an assistant manager, right?"

"Yes, sir."

"That's quite an impressive jump from intern to that position. How are you enjoying it?" The middle aged man stood up from his chair and walked around to my side, sitting on his table top with his arms crossed.

"Thank you sir, I'm blessed to have been promoted.. It's been crazy.. with really long hours.. but worth it!" I don't know if it was just my imagination, but it started to feel a little bit like an interrogation. And I was getting uncomfortable. Mentally trying to figure out what his end game was, I had to remind myself again to act natural on the outside.

"That's great," the sincerity in his eyes was so soft and genuine. "And I'm assuming you're coming to our staff Valentine's Day gala?"

"Oh, of course sir," I tensed at the mention of the event."I was honoured to be invited!"

"Nonsense!" he chuckled deeply. "All staff are invited!"

My teeth dug into my lips as I was reminded of the choice I had to make. The worst part was that if had said no to one and yes to the other, they would immediately know who I chose over them. And that didn't feel right at all. The heavy feeling in my gut knotted my thoughts as I unconsciously faded out of the conversation.

"It's just come to my attention.." the CEO's continued, his voice snapping me out of it. "...that you're not married, and you weren't even an intern for that long.."
