Long chapter ahead!

And a tiny bit of angst coming your way 😉

-

The warmth of the midday sun greeted me like an old friend who had just come out of hiding. After the chilling months we've had, Seoul was starting to see spurts of warm weather. Flowers were blooming, and temperatures were rising. Much like how the atmosphere was at the moment. The contrast between the air conditioned public transport system and the sweltering outdoors was ruthless as I stepped outside of the station.

Making my way towards the BigHit Building, I thought back to that one winter day where I had unknowingly bumped into Yoongi here. It sounds silly stating the obvious, but so much has changed between then and now. I sounded like a broken record again. Constantly thinking about where my life was a few months ago, and how I wish I could go back. It was a vicious cycle. And the sadness I felt of what had passed always came to me at obscure times. Apparently today's quota was being fulfilled right now.

I thought of that quote from that famous TV show:

"The thing about the past, is that no matter how tightly you hold on to it... it's already gone."

It was something I had to remind myself of. That no matter how much I obsess over it, the past is the past.

As I approached the usual sea of civilian onlookers outside my place of employment, I saw a familiar face resting against the wall closest to the entrance. The YSL bag she had from the other day told me from a mile away that the bearer was Jihye.

We made eye contact again as I came into her line of sight, but this time she was prepared.

"Hey!" She chirped jolting up, approaching me with recognition. "You're that girl that works with Joon, yeah? You were there when I was with my work unnies, right?"

I reluctanly nodded, smiling politely and awkwardly trying to decide how I should behave towards her. On the one hand, it would be uncalled for if I just berate her in public, as she had never personally wronged me. On the other hand... it's Jihye.

"I'm actually hoping to catch Joon! Maybe have lunch?" I forgot how shitty she would make me feel. Her cascading 'I-woke-up-like-this' hair was perfect; in comparison to my 'I-combed-mine-for-two-seconds-this-morning-because-I-woke-up-late' version. She was wearing branded goods but it wasn't for show. She still exuded an approachable persona, within the short time I had met her, I wanted to be her friend.

"Can't you just call him?" I said, asking a question I already knew the answer to. It was like meeting someone in person for the first time after some excessive online stalking and pretending to not know their whole life story. Except this time, instead of the social media research, I had been living her drama.

"Ohhh no..." Jihye laughed lightheartedly, like she wasn't going through a relationship breakdown."I wanted to surprise him!"

She was clearly hiding Namjoon's avoidance of her. Out of pride or embarrassment, I don't know.

"You know there's a back door right?" I confidently stated, even though I just found out about it the other day from Jin. "So, he could have easily left or entered through there?"

"Of course!" She facepalmed, disappointed in herself for missing this tiny detail. "How could I forget?"

After mulling over her futile efforts, I saw her face perk up with a lightbulb moment. "Hey! Why don't you join me for a cup of coffee? Or maybe some dessert? Truth be told, I think Joon's been avoiding me anyways.."

"I don't know.." I checked my lock screen for the clock, it was getting dangerously close to my start time. Plus, I didn't really want to be hanging out with Jihye. "I should really get to work. I start soon and-"
