The time following prom had been quiet in Mikaelson household, after what had happened with the cure. Rebekah was angry Klaus had robbed her at her chance of being human, and Klaus had disappeared to deal with some business, which Elijah and Audrey soon learned was happening in New Orleans. They found a letter in his study, left for him from Katherine, talking about a witch named Jane-Anne Deveraux. Apparently, she and the witches there were conspiring against him.

"New Orleans" Rebekah repeated in confusion. "What the hell is Klaus doing there?"

"Evidently there are witches conspiring against him." Elijah explained what they'd learned. "So, knowing our brother, this was a mission to silence and slaughter."

"Well, the French Quarter witches are not a lot to be trifled with." Rebekah said knowingly, a small smile of hope appearing on her lips. "You don't suppose they've found a way to kill him once and for all, do you?"

When they learned Klaus was in New Orleans, Elijah had given her a brief explanation of the Mikaelson history in the city. They'd been the ones that had helped build, and it had been there home for a long time, until Mikael found them and chased them out.

Audrey just shook her head, taking the drink she held out to her. "You don't mean that."

"Oh, I do." Rebekah continued to smile, sipping her own drink.

Elijah gave her a look. "Rebekah, in the name of our family, you might try to dial down your glee."

"What family?" She shot back. "We're three distrustful acquaintances who happen to share a bloodline. I, for one, hope they've found a way to make that traitorous bastard rot." Rebekah said bluntly.

Elijah looked at her, clearly unimpressed, before holding his hand out to Audrey. "Come on, my love."

The blonde Mikaelson raised a brow at the couple. "Where are you going?"

"To find out who's making a move against our brother." Elijah paused to look at her. "And then I'll either stop them...or I'll help them, depending on my mood." He mused, before he walked ahead, leaving Audrey shaking her head at them both as she followed.

New Orleans was a beautiful city. They hadn't been there long, but Audrey couldn't help but admire it. The streets were packed, locals and tourists alike partying together, the city bright with lights. The couple made their way into the French Quarter when they arrived, keeping an eye out for Klaus as they made their way into Rousseau's, taking a seat at the bar as they came up with a plan. This seemed like the best place to start, after some digging helped them find out Jane-Anne actually worked at the bar.

The bartender smiled, as she placed a drink down in front of each of them, raising a brow. "So what brings you both to the big easy?"

Elijah smiled fondly, looking slightly lost in memory. "I used to live here."
