Josh Dun x Reader - Feeling Something

Start from the beginning

A couple of seconds later Josh burst through the door into your bedroom. He was still wearing his jacket and shoes, but you did not mind. When he spotted you on the bed he ran over, and wrapped you in his arms, tightly pulling you against his chest. You leant in, burying your face in his jacket, and inhaled his familiar scent.

Sometimes you felt like that if you knew he felt for you the same way you felt for him, you would be happy. But then again you knew that it would not be the solution to all of your problems.

When he realised that you were crying, Josh carefully pulled away.

"Did you-"

The unfinished question hung in the air for a few seconds, but you shook your head, knowing he was asking if you had already hurt yourself.

Sometimes you had called him only until after, when all that was left to do was to clean, disinfect and bandage your arms. Every time you had seen the pain in Josh's wonderful dark eyes; and knowing he was hurting because of you had been worse than your stinging forearms. So you had started to call him earlier, because if anyone was able to stop you from doing this, it was him. And, plus point, he also was the only one who made you feel something. Nothing strong and overwhelming like the guilt that came with the cutting, rather a small little tea warmer candle flame, but it was warm and golden, and you liked it. Maybe, if your emotions would not have been dimmed down close to zero, you would have been able to identify this little flame as being in love with him.

Even though you had shaken your head, he pulled away even further, checking your clothes, the bedsheets and the floor for any blood stains. Just to make sure, he also closely inspected your bare forearms, running his fingers over the by now fading scares from the last times. His hands were warm, and you shivered, still crying, when they made contact to your skin.

"Thank you for calling me," he whispered.

His voice was soft, sadness clouding his pretty brown eyes, but you could see that he really was thankful, thankful for you calling him in time.

"Thank you for coming," you replied.

Following an instinct, you leant your forehead against his. You had not even considered that this gesture was often shared between lovers rather than friends, it had just occurred to you that it would be a good feeling, to have him so close. And it was. His skin was warm, a strand of his hair stuck between you, slightly tickling you, and you could feel his even breath against your face.

And suddenly he kissed you. His hands were still holding yours, he was kneeling in front of the bed you were sitting on, and with a slight tilt of his head he pressed his lips against yours. You had wondered many times what it would feel like, but it had never occurred to you how soft and warm Josh really was, how careful and gentle, as he gave you time to react, to pull away or kiss him back.

He took a shaky breath as you hesitantly returned the gesture, not sure if you were awake or dreaming. But you were not rejecting him, he thought, you did not pull away, no, instead you leant in, so he took it as the signal that it was okay, and gathering up his courage, he let go of your one hand to gently cup your chin, pulling your face closer. Your now free hand almost immediately found his arm, resting lightly on his shoulder.

When you opened your eyes after pulling away for air, you found Josh's were still closed. He took another shaky breath, before he smiled embarrassedly.

"I've wanted to do this for so long," he confessed, laughing slightly at the sight of your widening eyes.

"Really," was all you managed to stutter out.

"Yeah, really." He got up from where he had been kneeling on the floor, and sat down on the bed next to you.

"Me too," you admitted, watching in smiling as Josh's face lit up with a huge grin.

"Really," he asked cockily.

"Yeah, really," you repeated his answer, rolling your eyes.

"Well, lucky us," he laughed, and pushed you over on your bed so you were laying down, "What do we do now?"

"Can we just do nothing," you asked, your head spinning from the unexpected revelation of the afternoon.

"I'd personally prefer cuddling over doing nothing, but if you don't want that..."

"No! Cuddles, definitely cuddles," you decided, unable to hold the smile on your face in check, a smile only Josh could make you smile.

"Great," Josh grinned, shrugged off his jacket and shoes, and crawled over to you, giving you a short kiss on the lips before wrapping you in his arms.

You could feel his chest expanding and relaxing with every breath he took, and his body warmth that seeped through your clothes into your skin.

"Can we just stay like this forever," you asked suddenly feeling sleepy.

Josh just hummed an agreement into your shoulder against which he had pressed his nose.
