"You ready?" Alex asked her as they drove through the gates of Buckingham Palace that morning, they were to have breakfast with Elizabeth first before announcing to the group of people she knew that they'd won special recognition Pride of Britain Award.

"Of course, Steven just texted me that Maddie had left unexpected last night." She told him with a hint of amusement as Alex let out a chuckle at that. It was strange that such a horrible experience could lead to love in Maddie and Steven's place. They weren't an official couple, but from what she was hearing from everyone, things were moving rather quickly between those two. Sure, Maddie was 6 years older than Steven, but it wasn't something bad if she were to believe the stories coming to her from all sides.

"How could that be?" Alex quipped as he kissed the back of her hand as he drove through the gates of the palace and headed for the parking lot to the side of the palace.

"Nervous?" Alex asked her as they were walking through the Palace. Sure, it was her fourth time meeting the Queen now, but it still felt strange to her at the best of days. She feared that she may never grow used to that, it was a woman she admired and had such an image that she was sure that no other woman would ever be able to live up to it. She'd risen in a men's world and proven them all wrong. Only for that, she had Amelia's respect. And though she was less nervous than a previous couple of times, she couldn't help but still be nervous right now as well.

"A little," she admitted to Alex as he gave her hand a small squeeze.

"You have nothing to be nervous about, you've met gran a few times already and she likes you," he promised her as she gave him a doubtful look. After the reaming out of her palace officials on Monday, she feared she may no longer be liked by anyone in the palace. They were still working with Jacob, Lucas, and William and though they were still hostile, under the assumption that they were still getting called to order in the coming days were still high and mighty on their horses.

She'd just gotten better at ignoring them, or just working as much on their nerves as they were working on hers. Sure, their team didn't exactly follow their advice either. Sometimes she wondered what they were even doing there, their opinion wasn't listened to on most occasions. they'd nearly blown a fuse when they'd discovered that the visits to the UK space agency and National Space centre had been indeed planned in their schedule.

And their response had been that they were going to join them, just to make sure that Amelia didn't mess up. Well, she couldn't wait to prove them wrong when they visited both places on Tuesday.

"I can't help it; I still see her as The Queen and not your gran. I doubt that'll change anytime soon," she told him as he let out a chuckle.

"I never knew her to be anything else," he told her as Amelia let out a chuckle.

"Of course, she rocked you in her arms as your grandmother, not as Queen," she told him as he tilted his head to the side in agreement.

Turning the corner, The Queen was waiting on them with one of those smiles of her on her face.

She looked at the newly engaged couple and couldn't deny and think that they made for a great match. From the moment she'd ambushed Amelia back in Scotland over a year ago, she'd like the young woman. She was a breath of fresh air and the good kind this time.

Not the fake kind of fresh air. She'd gotten the respect of her, even more, when she'd gone to an earthquake struck place to go and help people over there. It reminded her a lot of the time that she'd served during the war. She knew she was dating Alex and hadn't given care about it, just doing what felt right and she'd gotten the respect of her even more because of it.
