Chapter 9.

Tess's P.O.V

I threw open my front door and ran to my room. I already cut once today so all my rage is out. But Im still sobbing my eyes out. Just then my phone goes off from across the room. I quickly wipe my tears and hold back my sniffles. I take a deep breath and grab my phone. Shawns mom. I may hate Shawn right now, but his family are still my friends. I accepted the call and brought my phone to my ear. "Hel-Hello?" I answered. "Hi Tess! I know this is really short notice, but is there anyway you could babysit tonight?" She breathed heavily into the phone and I could hear her scrambling around. "Umm. I dont know Ms.Mendes. Why cant Sh-Shawn do it?" I gulped when I said his name. "He said hes going out to a party tonight, and I mean... I would really like him to fit in and meet friends. This is the first party he's been to since he got here." She let out a huge sigh. "And I thought I would be free tonight but I forgot I have a major work meeting tonight." She said breathlessly. "Wellll.." I tried to decide what to do. Its not like Shawn would be there, Right? "Please Tess, Im desperate here." She said. "Sure. I'll do it." I relaxed my shoulders. She let out a sigh of relief "Oh great, Thanks so much. I dont know what we'd do without you." I could practically feel her smile through the phone. "No problem." I clenched my teeth. "So what time should I-" I got cut of my her answer. "Umm, How bout 15 minutes?" She asked. "Wait. What?" My eyes widened. "Thanks Tess, Your the best!" beep beep beep. She hung up. I sighed and got ready. I took a really quick shower, straightened my hair and put it in a pony, and put on mascara then curled my lashes. Basically all my tops were dirty. UGH. I had to wear one of Ally's. I put on the most basic top I could find, a plain blue crop top, and grabbed a pair of my leggings. Ok, ready. wait. I quickly put bandaids on my cuts then left my house, with my phone in hand. I walked next door, and shakily knocked. Shawn answered. I took a step back and almost fell over. He stared at me. His eyes were puffy and red. I almost felt... bad for him? No Tess, Hes a jerk. "Tess! Tess I- Im really really sorry! I know im a jerk, Im stupid, Im dumb. I know but- But I miss you. He stared straight into my eyes. I looked away. "Just stay away." I glared at him in disgust. He stared at my wrist. I felt tears fill my eyes. Stay Strong Tess. Dont let him see your weak. I told myself. His eyes widened when he saw the bandaids. "Did I do that?" His voice shaked. I nodded. "Stay away." A tear rolled down his cheek but he just nodded. He wiped his cheek with the back of his hand and his mom came out from behind him. "Alright, I gotta run. Hannah is next door ar her friends house, but she will come and walk back her in about 20 minutes. Oh, and bedtime is on the fridge!" she paused for a second. "Shawns heading out in half an hour so its just you two for a while." She smiled. "Also I will probobaly be home later then Shawn.. " Her smile faded into a serious look. "So.. Behave yourselves. No-You knowww?" She raised her eyebrows at us. "What? Oh no no no no no." I shook my head. Shawn turned beet red. "Uh, yeah mom, Ok bye!" He hustled her out the door. I walked inside and sat down on the couch. Shawn sat beside me, just so our arms touched. I shifted uncomfortablely. "Oh! Oh, right sorry." He moved over giving me more space. I pulled out my phone. A couple minutes of silence passed. He let out a huge sigh. "Tess. Can we atleast please talk?" He turned his body towards me. I shook my head. "Please?" He begged. "Theres nothing to talk about Shawn.' I snapped and got up from the couch. The front door opened. Hannah walked into the living room. "Tess!" She squealed when she saw me. I put a fake smile on my face and gave Hannah a big hug. "Are you babysitting?" She looked at me with eager eyes. I nodded with a smile on my face. "Yes!" She ran upstairs. "I should get going." Shawn stood up. I looked down awkwarly. He called goodbye to Hannah and then walked out the front door. "Bye Tess." He smiled. I waved my hand once and the frontdoor shut between us. See there was just one problem. I was really mad at Shawn... But I desperately wanted to forgive him. The truth was? I missed my bestfriend.
