"Or maybe not?"
That got me. Does he know? About the Red eyed guy? About saviours? About everything?
Before I could ask, I saw Mr. Jones starting another biology topic on the whiteboard. Rio turned towards him, surely not expecting an answer.

Around the end of the month, our Physics teacher gave us a project. I decided a model by searching those untouched old books in library.
"You wanna start making it already?" Ruth's voice peeped from behind.
"Yeah, don't wanna keep these things piled up. It creates pressure on my tender brain and..."
"OKAY OKAY, stop that blabbering. I understand. Tommorow. We'll start it. You bring the requirements from the Main market. I'll share the money spent. Fine?"
"Alright. I'll buy them today."

After school, I went to the Main market. Far from the dwellings, it was a place where you could find anything, and everything, at the cheapest price. The place was always buzzing with crowds at every corner. It took around 15 minutes by bus, and an hour to walk. Not so far, and going alone was affordable.

With all the requirements in my shopping bags, I reached my town. It was already dark. But now, I had a choice to make. Two roads went to the direction of my home. One was longer, and one was a shortcut. My mind announced its verdict with an authority I couldn't resist.
So I was going to take the shortcut. I wanted to reach home as early as possible, being already exhausted from the shopping.
I usually didn't take this route. It was kinda creepy, with less streetlights and people. But nevertheless, it was a shortcut, and risks were inevitable.
I turned on my flashlight and slowly walked through the road.

Some moments later, I could hear some growling and rough noises.
Some stray dogs doing what they always do.

The sounds became clearer as I advanced. And then, I could see some people standing at the nearby park. I sneaked behind a tree to have a safer view. I wanted to leave the place early, but that could bring notice too. Either way, it wasn't in my hands anymore.

There were four people, one surrounded by the other three. Those three looked as if they were disappointed. The three attacked the one in the centre, and standing in the centre was the RED EYED. He dodged the attacks, ran at a whole new speed, and hit all of them at one go.

They all fell down, groaned in pain and, collapsed.
My heart throbbed faster.
Did he kill them?

The bags in my hand slipped and fell down. Thunk!
His eyes snapped at my direction.
Oh no! He must have seen me!

Taking all my bags and the bits of courage left inside me, I ran.
My vision got hazy with brimming tears. This wasn't the time to be a scaredy cat. But an unnoticed stone under my foot made me fall, flat on my face. I sat up quickly and brushed the dirt off my face, and looked above.
He was standing in front of me, with his glowing red eyes boring holes in mine. My whole body dripped with sweat, but the look gave me chills. Numbness swept through me.

My end has come, just like those three in the park.

"Ah, we meet again." I could hear the sarcasm in his voice.

"I...... I don't want to die." I muttered.
To that, he took one step closer.

"Did you see anything?" His deep voice rang through my ears.
"N..no. Nothing really. I was just passing by and.."
He raised his hand, showing me to stop.

"Yes, you didn't see anything. Remember that."
Did he want me to forget this episode?

"Sure sure....no... not a problem."
"Okay then. Keep mum, or else.... you know what I mean right?" He leaned towards me, and showed me a grin.
A demonic one.

"I... I got it."
Of course I'll keep it a secret. Who would want to die at this TENDER AGE?

I started collecting my fallen bags and looked up.
He was gone.
