Our mouths fell open with the surprising facts fed by him.

"We....I mean, Ella and I, are a part of a bigger organization. We are called Saviors. We use our powers for the well-being of people around. There are many orgs, having people just like us, all over the world. Some good, some evil. It's over us to decide where we want to dwell in."

An utterly incredible story.

"So you are a Savior, right?" Ruth's voice was uncharacteristically chirpy this time.
Oh yes, she loves fantasy. Looks like this piqued her interest too nicely.
Daniel nodded at her.

"So why was Ella in your room now?" I asked. I remembered that serious look on his face when that girl was whispering in his ear.

"She was sent by Chief to deliver a message."

"What message?" Our voices rose.

"About a mysterious guy in this city. He is supposedly of Syndicate."

"So what's the big deal about this mysterious guy of Syndicate, whatever that means?" Ruth's voice lowered as if she was a part of his mission now. She was TOTALLY into this thing.

"See, the Syndicates are a group of powerful people, like much, much stronger. And they ain't in good terms with us, nor with the people around."

"We, the people with powers, need to follow some eternal rules of the society, so that our powers don't get tangled with the normal human lives. The Syndicates, however, are famous for breaking them."
This description of Syndicates wildly reminded me of the incident at the stay over.
HE might be the mysterious guy right?
I have to tell Daniel.

But then I saw Ruth smothering him with her wide smiles, and I knew I couldn't tell him all that now.
Instead, I could speak to his Chief.

"Hey, who's your Chief?" I asked between their sweet talks.
"I can't tell his name here.... it's not—"
"Okay okay...leave it...no issues."
It would be too hard for him at one go. He said so much already.

After a little silence, he broke it again.
"I have said so many things I wasn't supposed to. Please keep it a secret, will ya?"
"No worries, trust us with it." We did our signature lip-zipping action. He smiled for the first time in a while.

Mum brought some freshly baked cookies for the three of us, and he ate nearly all of them.
I guess, spilling secrets make you hungry?
Or maybe he ALWAYS ate this much.

We bid goodbyes to each other. They went home. And I sat there, my mind whirling around these implausible conjectures. I was a simple teenage girl with extraordinarily simple life. And lo! God threw me in this incredulous storyline. As if to add effects, chilling winds hit me from the forgotten open window. I went to close it but, wait.

What's that sound?

I heard some rustling of leaves somewhere down there. So dark, I wished I could see more clearly. There was a slight dark silhouette, walking away silently from the backyard.
Why would Daniel tiptoe like that?
Or is that something ELSE?
