Tired? Rest In Jesus

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.                      Matthew 11:28 KJV

When you start an heavy labor- helping a friend move into his new place or digging in a garden- you work freely. It seems easy. But as you begin to tire, you set a goal: I'll do this much, then take a rest. Later, your muscles feel the strain, and thoughts of a break fill your mind. Finally, you just have to stop working. It's the same with emotional or spiritual work. You can't go on forever without Jesus' rest.

When you're working forty hours a week, hitting the mall after work, involved in ministry, and visiting friends on the weekend, by the time you get home, you're exhausted. Your Bible sits unused on your nightstand. Next morning, you scramble to the office, and a quiet time just doesn't seems to fit in.

Life's too hectic, you think.

Well, of course it is! You missed the first part of this verse and didn't come to Jesus.

Lord, each day I need to come to You in prayer and through the scriptures. When I'm feeling too busy, draw me with Your Spirit. I need to schedule a meeting with You.
