Remember your first romance that gave you a glimpse of what real romantic love could be? Though it probably didn't work out, your first love sticks firmly in your mind. There was something memorable about it.
That first love probably wasn't any more exciting than the first moment you knew-really knew-that you loved Jesus. Whether you heard bells ring or just felt a quiet assurance, deep love flooded your soul. But has that first love for God turned to neglect?
If you don't spend time with your date or seek to please that special person, your relationship will show it. You'll have more disagreements than fun times. It's the same with Jesus. Though He'll love you no matter what, He won't be the overwhelming passion in your life-He'll slip into second place-or maybe third.
Has your first exciting love for God flagged, falling behind football games, the influence of a friend, your dating life, or even pizza? Get back on track. Ask His forgiveness and give Him every bit of your life.
Jesus, I don't want anymore or anything else to displace You. Be the overwhelming passion in my life.
