A Mirror Of Christ

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Ephesians 5:3

Once you declare your Christianity, your life is under a microscope. If you slip, all your nice words are useless.

You can't shrug this problem off by saying it's not you whom people should follow, but Christ, who was without sin. You are the one who makes Christ visible to the world. If you intend to be an evangelist, you'd better have your own life in order.

Does this mean you can't witness to anyone because your own life is flawed? Of course not. It does mean you have to voluntarily acknowledge your own shortcomings, admitting you are a flawed mirror of God; your own sins come between others and the glory you're trying to reflect. When you admit that, people can see you as honest, a normal human being, then look beyond you and glimpse the possibility of their own salvation.

Father, I'm not worthy to be an example of You and Your way of life. Help me deal with my own sins in a way that will bring glory to You and salvation to other sinners like me.
