I feel my system start to wake up. I can hear machines beeping around me and I can feel IV's in my body. I open my eyes and am blinded by the bright lights. I try and avoid the light and I see my mom sitting on a chair beside the bed.
"How are you feeling." she asks
"Alright." I say
"The doctor said the surgery was a success." she says
"When can I leave?" I ask her
"Well you still have a couple more hours of surgery to go but the doctor said you could leave in a couple days after the surgerys all done, it takes time." she says
"I'm kinda hungry." I say
"What do you want to eat?" she asks me
"Anythings fine." I say
She gets up and exits the room. A couple minutes after she exited the room, a nurse comes in.
"Someone is here to see you." she says
"Alright." I say
"I'll let him in." she says while exiting the room
Seconds later, Caleb comes through the door.
"Hey baby." he says while walking over to me and giving me a kiss
"Hey." I answer back
"How'd it go?" he asks
"It was a success so far." I say
"That awesome." he says
"Ya." I say
"When can you come back?" he asks
"Probably in a couple of days. I still have more surgery to go though. " I say
"I'll come check on you everyday." he says
"Thanks babe." I say
My mom then walks in with some food and a drink.
"Mr Prior." she says
"Ms Matthews." he says
My mom walks over and hands me the food she brought me. Caleb helps me sit up and my mom places the tray of food on my lap.
"Thanks mom." I say
"No problem sweetie." she says
She goes to sit on the chair in the corner of the room and takes out her iPad to start writing an article.
I take a bite of my food and a sip of my drink.
"I met you're sister." I say to Caleb
"What? When?" he asks
"The day I got hit in the shoulder. She was trying to stop the plan at Erudite." I whisper so my mom won't hear
"She said she missed you." I say
"I honestly didn't think she'd transfer to Dauntless." he says
"Really?" I ask him
"Yea. I thought she'd stay in Abnegation with our parents." he says
"Oh. I heard she came 1st in her final initiation." I say
"That's good at least." he says
"Have you seen her since the choosing ceremony?" I ask him
"No." he says
"Well she really nice." I say
He smiles genuinely. I smile back at him. I continue eating my food until its finished. Caleb takes the tray and puts it beside the bed on the side table. Just then the doctor comes in. He walks over to my mother and says something to her. They both walk in my direction.
"What's going on?" I ask
"We have to continue with the surgery now." my mother says
"Ok." I say
"Some nurses will be coming to bring you to the surgery room." the doctor says
"Ok." I say
He walks out of the room and I turn to Caleb.
"Good luck." he says
"Thanks baby." I say
"I promise I'll come visit you after you're surgerys done." he says
"Thanks. You're the best." I say
Some nurses walk in to the room.
"Well I guess this is it." I say
"Love you." he says
"Love you too." I repeat back
Caleb leans over and kisses me on the lips. After we're done, the nurses come and wheel me down to the surgery room. My mother follows us into the room. Only one person was allowed to be there for the surgery.
I'm wheeled into the surgery room and the doctor is preparing.
"I'm going to inject you with some medicine that will knock you out until the surgerys finished." the doctor says
"Ok." I say
"Good luck Chloe." my mom says
I then feel a needle being injected into my body and then the world goes black.
