"Y/N, please!" J-Hope was reduced to one word responses in my ears, no doubt wanting to get me to talk about it all. I was just not ready.
"Excuse me, sorry, where can I get taxi or.. an Uber?" With great urgency, I asked one of the bell boys who was in charge of opening the car doors.
"Apologies, mam," he said slightly bowing. "For that you have to make your way to the parking structure."
Following his instructions, I walked behind the main building into the tunnel that led underground. The path was dotted with smokers and vapers along the way. The smell of tobacco, bubblegum and chocolate co-mingled like an obscure dessert buffet.
I didn't bother looking back, but I could hear the fast paced foot steps following behind me. Hoseok was still following me.
Unfortunately, the taxi stand was nowhere in sight so I did my best and zigzagged my way in between cars. As I kept walking, I approached a set of stairs, no doubt leading up to the rest of the hotel. Thinking on my feet, I ducked behind it, trusting the wall would be the perfect blind spot for me to hide. I pressed my self against the cold brick wall, reminding me once again it was winter.
"If you were thinking of squatting here, this spot is taken."
Surprised to hear a familiar voice, I turned to my left and saw Yoongi nonchalantly leaning on the wall. He was smoking something again, a habit I've been told isn't common on him.
"Y/N?!" In the distance, I could hear Hoseok calling out for me. He was nowhere near where I was and that was exactly the way I wanted it. I was hoping he'd give up sooner rather than later.
Yoongi heard him too and raised his eyebrows in confusion. "Does Cinderella need to get back to her pumpkin?"
Ignoring him, I pulled out my phone and texted Hoseok.
I'm sorry.
I heard his message tone echo inside the parking structure and soon, I stopped hearing my name.
"Do you want to explain to me-"
Before the rapper could finish, I took the cigarette off his hands and inhaled it.
"Y/N that's not-"
As if on cue, I started coughing harshly. The back of my throat was dry and filled with embers, like i had just ate a lump of charcoal. What I tasted didn't smell like the smokers I had encountered along the way. It was much more strong, pungent and earthy.
Yoongi took the blunt back from my fingers and patted my back as I was still loosely coughing up my lung.
"If you would actually let me finish, I could've told you that this.." breathing in the smoke from the little stick between his fingers, the red orb lit up signifying his intake. He exhaled from his nose, the white smoke quickly drifting into the wind. ".. is not tobacco."
His gravitas turned me on, I don't know what it was. But they way he made me feel so out of his league and vulnerable got my heart rate going.
"Y/N, I know you're here!" Hoseok's voice was getting closer. I had thought he had gone back inside. "Can you please just talk to me?"
The anxiousness in my emotions clear, Yoongi pulled out his keys and unlocked the four wheel drive that was right in front of us. I didn't even realise it was his car.
"Do you want a better hiding spot?" Without hesitation, I opened the door of his black vehicle and slid into his back seat. The leather was cool on my skin, but quickly adjusted with time.
Inside the vehicle, everything was amplified. Yoongi's devilish grin, the smell of alcohol coming from me and the wafting of weed coming from his very lit, very illegal joint.
This reminded me of our first encounter. The cold of the night, the smell of alcohol, the bruising on my neck. It was all so similar, but so damn different.
"Is this your first time smoking pot?" He asked, inhaling another puff. When it was time to release, white rings escaped his thin lips. It didn't seem like he cared if it was, just curious.
I shook my head. My mind thought back to an instance in highschool where I was offered a puff at a party. We sat around a circle, and when it got to my turn, the exact same thing happened as it did earlier. The discomfort of it all and the lack of an effect caused me to be disinterested in this expensive recreational drug.
"Good," he offered the stick again, but I refused, to which he scowled. "Why not?"
"I don't take it down too well, and plus I never feel anything when I do have some."
"That just tells me two things: a) you've only had it once and b) whatever you had was crap." He cheekily smiled again, his gums on full display. "Do you wanna tell me why you were running away?"
"One word, Jihye." I sighed.
"Ahhh.. A tale as old as time.." inhaling another puff. Yoongi was smirking now, a half smile painted on his face. "You know.. I had a 'Jihye' once too.."
"What do you mean?" I was genuinely intrigued. I didn't know anything about Yoongi sunbae's past. It always felt like he was keeping a side of him away from everyone. Like he didn't want to show all his cards. Like he was too afraid to. That's why I knew I couldn't probe too much or it would backfire, so I said nothing set else.
"Nevermind that." He shrugged expectedly. "Dealing with Namjoon's stupidity when it comes to Jihye... You deserve something to take your mind off things. I know from experience."
"I don't know sunbae.."
"This is a $60 joint, and an extremely pure strain. Will you just trust me?"
"Sounds like you were ripped off.." I managed a giggle.
"Do you trust me?" The rappers eyes stern and not in the mood for humour.
Noting how serious he was being, I nodded without another word.
"Open your mouth." He commanded. "When you taste the smoke, I want you to inhale."
Parting my lips, I obeyed diligently.
Seeing that I was ready, Yoongi took a deep puff from his blunt. So much so that the stick burnt out from this one intake. Unlike the other times, he didn't let a single trace of smoke out. His lips tightly sealed.
Yoongi leaned in, gently placing his hand on my right cheek. And before I knew it, our lips were connected. I had almost forgotten what we were doing until the taste of marijuana coated my tongue. It was like he was giving me CPR, but in a much more intimate and gentle way. After he had completely released his breath into me, I pulled back. This time, the dry, scratchy feeling was not as intense and I manage to let the smoke attack my lungs without coughing. Once I had inhaled what I could, I felt the cloud seep through my nostrils in a natural exhale.
"Not bad Cinderella.." the rapper said as he slowly pulled back into a smirk. "Not bad at all."
