Chapter 32 - Love the Way You Lie

Start from the beginning

All of sudden, Namjoon crashes his lips onto Jihye's, his grip even tighter against her. It was violent and hungry, a stark contrast to our gentle, comforting encounters. He aggressively claimed her like she was his, while she submissively complied and gave her all. Pulling away as abruptly as they started, they returned to their incoherent stares. Silent albeit the sound of them catching their breaths.

After what felt like an eternity, Namjoon broke their unspoken conversation.

"Come home with me."

And even though I had no right whatsoever to feel this way, my heart dropped to the eternal pit of my stomach.

Jihye immediately nodded, tears streaming down.

My breaths became short as anxiety replaced my usual logic. It was like driving on a freezing day. Everything was clouded.

Namjoon found Jihye's coat and cloaked it on as he ushered her out. I could hear him whisper that he would catch up with her soon. The rapper picked up the chair he had shattered earlier and did what he could to stand it back on its legs.

Clawing my way out Hoseok's hold, I had caused him to convey a very audible "Wait!"

I was only a foot away from our hiding spot, but Namjoon had heard his band mate and looked over.

Realising we had been there the entire time, guilt overcame Namjoon as a whole. His mouth slightly ajar, but no words. I could feel my face tense up as my eyes worked overtime to hold back tears. I needed answers.

He cut off our silent conversation by forcefully closing his eyes and looking away. It was like he was telling himself something, or repeating something in his head. His lips were pursed as he maintained his harsh shut eye, clenching the stool he had just pulled back up.

But with a long exhale, his expression softened and he let go of the stool. Just like that, he was looking back at me again with his gentle gaze. His eyes still spelled out his guilt, but his small sombre smile told me he had accepted his sins.

And then Namjoon left.

"Y/N, wait!" Hobi was struggling to keep up with me, even though I was the one with a dress and heels. Weaving around the sea of people, I was looking to leave, with or without my coat.

The frost of the winter night attacked my very exposed skin as soon as I was outside. Looking into the distance, I saw the city lights contrast the dark spots of Seoul. It would have been a beautiful night to savour.

As the gala was still in full swing, only a small number of guests were outside of the dedicated ballroom lobby. Hotel staff maned the valet desk as a late arrival couple handed over their keys in exchange for a number.
