"Be my girlfriend?" I asked, blurting it out. "Be my girlfriend, Dani?"

Ruby's POV
Dani looked at me in shock.
Did that mean no?
Did that mean she didn't want to be with me?
Did that mean she didn't want to be my girlfriend?
Did she think I was stupid?
"Um well?" I asked nervously.
Dani walked over to me and kissed me.
"Yes" she said, smiling and I kissed her back.
I smiled at her.
"I really have to go" she said. "But yes. Yes yes yes yes. I'll text you later ok"
"Ok" I said, not being able to stop myself from smiling.
"By girlfriend" she smirked.
"Bye girlfriend" I said, grinning shyly.
With that, she left and I felt like the happiest person in the world.

"Ruby! Dinner!" Joe shouted of me from the kitchen.
My happy mood still hadn't left. I had a girlfriend! Dani was my girlfriend!
I practically skipped into the kitchen, gliding from my joyous mood.
"You're perky" Joe said as I sat down.
He served the food and sat down. I smiled and began to eat.
"So?" he asked.
"So? What?" I asked.
"Why you so happy?" he asked.
"I don't knowwww" I lied, smiling.
"You liar" he laughed, taking a drink.
"I'm not" I laughed and ate.
We ate, exchanging short random conversation topics. After we'd finished, Joe got up and put the dishes in the dishwasher, turning it on afterwards.
Just then, my phone pinged. I took it out my pocket. It was a text from Dani.
Dani- I miss you x
I grinned to myself and texted back straight away.
Me- I miss you too x
Dani- Can't wait to see you next x
Me- Neither can I x
"Ruby, can we talk?" Joe asked, sitting back down across from me.
"Um ok" I said, putting my phone back in my pocket.
"You know I don't judge, don't you?" he asked.
"Um yeah why?" I asked, confused.
"I know, Ruby" Joe said.
"Know what?" I asked.
"Dani" he said.
"W-what do you mean?" I asked.
"I heard some of the conversation this morning. And last night when I came in your room to say goodnight you were both asleep cuddling" he said.
I felt myself begin to blush.
"You can say it" he smiled at me. "You can tell me"
"D-Dani" I said but I stopped.
"It's ok" Joe smiled softly, putting his hand over mine. "Take your time"
I took a deep breath.
"D-Dani's my girlfriend" I stuttered nervously.
Joe smiled at me.
"You're not mad?" I asked.
"Are you happy?" he asked. "You seem happy when she's around"
I nodded.
"She um helped me cope after my mum...." I said slowly. "She was there for me. She makes me feel like it's ok to be me. I really like her"
"Then i'm happy for you" Joe smiled. "And I approve"
