Ruby's POV

"Strike!"

We were onto our second game of bowling. To say I was desperate to leave was the understatement of the century. Although we were on teams, I tried as best as I could to not talk to any of them. There were two teams: me, jack and joe verses Caspar, Josh and Mikey.

The other team won the last game and Jack begged for a rematch, even though I was desperate to just leave.

"Ruby, you're turn" Joe told me.

I couldn't be bothered.

"Someone just take my turn" i said, looking at the floor.

"What? You can't do that!" Mikey laughed, sounding baffled.

"Well tough someone can" I said.

"Those aren't the rules" Mikey said. "You have to play by the rules!"

"I'm not even on your team!" I groaned, getting seriously frustrated.

"Ruby" Joe said in a serious, stern tone.

"What?!" I said.

"Calm down" Joe said.

I rolled my eyes, wishing they'd both just shut the hell up.

"And you can pack that in too" Joe said. "I won't have you rolling your eyes at me"

I realised what Joe was doing. He was trying to act all fatherly in front of his friends. Well I wasn't gonna let his friends think he was a good dad.

"Oh, so now you decide to be a dad" I scoffed.

"Excuse me?" He asked.

I noticed all other boys watch us uncomfortably.

"You won't ever tell me what to do! Because you've never been a dad to me and you never will!" I spat.

"Ruby" he said. "You know I wasn't around-"

"Yes I know that!" I yelled. "I'm not stupid!"

"That's enough!" He said sternly.

"Just get lost" I spat.

I walked away before any of them saw me cry.

Joe's POV

"Just get lost!" Ruby spat, before she walked away.

I was just about to follow her when Jack grabbed my arm.

"Let me" he said. "Don't want you two having another blow out"

"But-" I said, but that was all I could get out before I was interrupted.

"Jack's right, Joe" Caspar intervened. "Things might get more heated if you go after her straight after you two have argued. Let him try and get through to her"

After a few seconds, I nodded.

"Thanks mate" I said to Jack, sighing in defeat.
