What is your name?
xoStardust
How old are you?
21
What inspired you to write your first book?
Other books mostly, one's where I was unsatisfied with the ending, or wanted there to be more. I've gotten a lot of inspiration from real life events that I've shaped into story details as well, which I've found helps make a story relatable since it's feelings you've experienced so it's easier to know how to express it in writing.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
My favorite author is Tamora Pierce. I love a lot of aspects of her work but especially the Lady Knight theme, which is something you don't get to read about often. I love books that have that fantasy medieval era to them, and while I'm not really into the traditional fairy-tales I like the twist of having strong female leads rather than damsels in distress and mythological creatures. I'm also really interested in medieval weaponry and training and would absolutely love to learn fencing and archery one day.
What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?
I like writing romances, plots with a happy ending one way or another because real life is too messy to get real picture perfect endings, but I like the idea that they can still exist in the pages of your favorite books, something you can always revisit.

Do you see writing as a career?
Not really. Writing is more of a hobby for me, I write when the mood strikes and inspiration hits. I can wake up in the middle of the night to jot down two lines or not write anything for days until a scene shapes itself up in my mind, but I absolutely can't follow deadlines. I also don't want to get to the point where writing becomes a chore, and want to keep it as something I can always come back to as a way of relaxing. And truthfully, I will always pick reading over writing.
If you could work with any author who would it be?
I don't know which author specifically, but it would be great to work with a hard-core fantasy writer, just so I could learn more about the mechanics of writing in the style and get more background information in the subject. I think the best opportunities would be in genres I have less experience in so that I could expand my writing style.
Do you use real-life facts based on true stories?
In some cases yes, I pull from things that have happened to me, but I change things enough that the instances wouldn't be recognized by anyone involved. Mostly it's not the plot ideas so much as personalities that I use from real life. When I shape a character I always have someone in mind as a starting point for their personality. Of course they always tend to go in directions I don't plan for and develop ways but I like having a starting point and a reference to decide how a character will react in different situations.
Did you ever think you'd be, where you are right now?
Not a chance. Writing was always more of an abstract idea for me, I never thought I'd even try posting my work where someone could read them, and I definitely didn't expect the great reception my first novel had. It still surprises me, and every new comment feel like the first.
What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?
Don't just add random twists and turn of events unless you know where you're going with them, otherwise you'll be lost in your plot before you know it. Creativity can't be forced. Sometimes you need to take a few days break and just think about where you're going with the stories, what events will help you characters grow, and even just writing about ordinary occurrences can spark a new idea that you hadn't thought of before. That's often the way it goes with my stories, many of the parts people love only came to me when I started writing something completely boring and then found a way to make it interesting or funny almost by accident.
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?
All the time. Unfortunately I don't have any great advice, mostly because I haven't yet figured out how to get over it myself. I usually have to spend a few hours just reading over old chapters and sitting down with my new chapter waiting and hoping for some idea to hit. If anyone else has some advice I'd love to hear it.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Don't be afraid to take risks, but at the same time write about what you know, or at least do the proper research for whatever topic you pick because whatever details you can add really make a difference and help bring people into the story and connect on a whole other level.
Anything fun about yourself you want your fans to know?
I love acting, snowboarding, and skating but I hate bicycles. Back when everyone learned to ride bicycles I wanted rollerblades and I loved them, and even though people say you never forget how to ride a bike, I don't think I'll ever be inclined to test that theory.
How would you describe yourself?
I'm a pretty laid back person, don't get mad easily and when I do i don't like holding grudges. I'm not always easily motivated, but when I love something I'll stick with it, no matter how long it takes. I'm not always comfortable in big groups of people and have a hard time feeling comfortable around new people, but when I do become friends with people I'd do almost anything for them and hope to stay close for a long time.
