What is your name?

Róisín Katherine.

How old are you?

I just turned 20 over a week ago. Sob. 

What inspired you to write your first book?

Reading, I love reading so so so much that I've always wanted to tell stories. Seriously I kept my art class entertained about how I was a chocolate bar in a nativity play (loads of kids+ A small cast= ridiculous parts. there was even a lama in it) for an hour and a half when I was 14. 

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Laini Taylor is one of my new and absolute favorites, a friends showed me 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone' and I have dealt with ridiculous amounts of love/jealousy since then. 

What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?

Romantic comedy seems to suit my personality but I would love to try and write a paranormal/fantasy book and incorporate my strange blend of humor into it. 

Do you see writing as a career?

Abso-fuckin-lutely. I would LOVE to be paid to write. dream. come. true, the downside is that I've met enough hipster failed writers to know that just saying that you're a writer isn't enough, so it's gonna be tough to get out there, but I'm going to try my best. 

If you could work with any author who would it be?

Hmm that's a tough question. I would love to work with Laini Taylor, but due to my immense jealously (did I mention this already?) I would probably become (more) insane. So instead I'm going to say... Cassandra Clare, because Will reminds me of a male version of myself, so clearly we would get on! :D

Do you use real-life facts based on true stories?

Completely! At least half of my book is based on situations and faux pas my friends and I have stumbled into. Of course some are made more dramatic, but believe it or not, some are barely even touched. Now you can understand why I am so so so weird... 

Did you ever think you'd be, where you are right now?

Never. I am so technically lost it's untrue. Seriously, I didn't have a phone (because I kept breaking them) until like a month ago and even then all you can hear in my house is me screeching for my younger sister to help me with it. as for laptops I am completely lost, so the fact that I managed to find my way on to wattpad is a surprise to me!

What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?

Read a chapter of your favorite book. Listen to music - this always helps me- of watch a film that screams I have so much imagination I am Tim Burton. My favorite in that case is Labyrinth. There's something about David Bowie in tights...

Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?

I talk to myself. No seriously. To everyone reading this I'm sure they were going, "She can't seriously be THAT odd" well this is proof that I can, and I am. I literally put myself in the spot of one of my characters and have a pretend conversations with myself. I laugh to myself and terrify everyone, even my family. My boyfriend thought I needed to be exorcised. Such fun. 

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Don't give up. Seriously don't do it. No, DON'T. EVER. GIVE. UP. Ok I got a little out of control there plus I was showing off a little for my sister. But seriously just keep at it. If it's a good plot and you like it and you can't stop thinking about it keep at it. It's one of my rules, if you can't stop thinking about something either sit down to write about it or sleep with it (my attempt of a witty joke that I would ask you to ignore...) also read A LOT. reading is practice and I for one can hold my hand up and say that reading over The Girl behind the Throne literally makes me want to throw up a little due to all the mistakes, but I keep it the way it is to teach me for future writing. Just keep going and eventually everything will be all good!.

Anything fun about yourself you want your fans to know?

Depends on the definition of fun I suppose, I could tell you something really strange about myself like for example I nearly drowned when I was 4 and was pulled out of the pool near unconsciousness by a man wearing the tiniest speedos in the world who then kept my head at penis height for a little too long while he shook my ankle to 'get the water out'. I could also tell you that I have a strange king of attraction of weirdos and assholes and wear a fake engagement ring because of the weirdness of the men who approach me- No arrogance intended. One man licked my arm once. I slept in the shower that night trying to get clean. Sob. 

How would you describe yourself?

I am a woman who has a hole in her bag of marbles. Physically I'm a strange non-irish looking, tanned, black haired 20 year old who is COMPLETELY irish on both sides (so one of my ancestors must have been playing away from home if you catch my drift ;) ) with bright green eyes and one foot bigger than the other. Mentally I like to think I'm the mixture of an old french painter, a helium balloon and an abandoned shoe. On that note that even creeped me out a little I'm going to say Slán go failte :D
