"I should probably talk to him.." I started, trailing as it was more of a direction to myself than a statement to the group.
"Dont wory about him, Y/N, you stay here and have a drink, I'll go." Hoseok insisted. As he spoke, a waiter walked past, carrying a tray of the ice tea Jin had been drinking. Swiftly, he took one glass and handed it to me without even slowing down the server. Hoseok was the definition of edgy. For the first time since I've met him, he had his hair gelled up, revealing his mythical forehead. He had an ordinary slim fit pin stripped suit, but he accessorised with chains sparingly and completed the look with a pair of badass combat boots. His limbs looked like they could go on forever.
"Thanks Hobi, but I should go," I took his drink anyways, knowing I'd need it to keep myself busy. He was clearly upset at me, and I needed to be the one to do this.
Turning to my date, who had somehow managed to get himself a drink too, I smiled half-heartedly. "Sorry Tae, I should probably talk to him. Do you mind?"
He was standing there so nonchalantly, in his embroided Gucci Y shirt, tucked in neatly under a belt and buttoned up all the way to the top. The intricate design at his shoulders framing his perfectly sculpted smirk. "Of course not, go ahead, I get it."
And with that, I fast-walked as glamourously as I could in this tulled navy dress and inhumane heels. Praying that I didn't lose him and trusting my gut to guess where he had gone.
Soon enough, I found him in the adjacent courtyard, dimly lit by the light coming out from the inside and nothing else. He was sitting on a well-placed gazebo in front of the courtyard's centrepiece: a three tiered fountain ornate with mermaid sculptures. Due to the shrubbery, I could barely make out that anyone was there except for the smoke rings and bright red orb lightly burning like a personal spotlight to Yoongi's grim face.
"Hey," I managed, with no response from him. He was stoicly puffing away like I wasn't even there, extending one leg on the bench, while the other propped up his arm. I never liked the smell of cigarettes, I never understood why anybody would do it, but mixed in with his alluring scent it was so fucking sexy. He was already masked by a cologne that companies knew turned girls on, which isn't fair in my books, but his natural devil-may-care attitude exuded a confidence I knew he was lacking right now.
"I get it, Y/N," he suddenly spoke without acknowledging my existence. "I get why you picked Taehyung."
I gulped at his statement. It wasn't a lie. They had both asked me, and I could only say yes to one person.
"Yoongi—"
"— No, I get it. If someone was going to get hurt, I'd take it better than Tae would." Inhaling in a puff of tobacco the man sighed out a cloud of smoke.
There was nothing I could say to this, because to a certain extent, he was right.
Putting out his cigarette butt, he threw the rest into the ashtray and stood up, taking a step towards me.
"Let me ask you something, Y/N," lifting a loose strand of hair off my shoulders, he inhaled it as he pulled his hand closer to him. "Was I just imagining things that night?"
He didn't need to clarify, I knew exactly which night he was referring too and this was getting dangerous. He had a way of letting my guards down, while making me feel terrified of what was going to happen at the same time. He was like a drug and I was addicted.
