'What you laughing at?' Adam teased curiously as he settled back on his seat.
'Oh nothing,' I replied carelessly. Nathan narrowed his eyes at me slightly.
'Persephone! Nathan! Seeing as you have been talking non-stop this whole lesson, can we hear what you've written so far?' Mr. Watson interrupted.
'What?' Me and Nathan said at the same time. I didn't dare look down at my empty page, I had nothing to show, at least Nathan had a line or so…
'You heard me,' he curled his lips, baring what, I suppose, were meant to be teeth. 'Persephone first.' I stared aghast. It was like he'd read my mind.
'I...I...' I trailed off, and sunk my eyes down to my blank page...
Adam poked me and tried to pass me his page, I glanced at him. He grinned, 'Take it. I'll do a new one,' he mouthed.
I shook my head subtly. 'No, I wouldn't do that to you. What if you have to read it in a sec?' I mouthed back.
'Hurry up Persephone!' I looked at Mr. Watson and sighed inwardly before blurting, 'I'm sorry Mr. Watson, but I haven't done anything yet. It’ll be done by Monday.'
Mr. Watson's eyes widened in surprise rather than anger. He looked from me to Nathan and back to me just as the bell rang. Huh, saved by the bell. The end of the day had arrived.
'Well, fine. Just, don't talk next time or you will be in detention again...' I breathed out a sigh of relief as Adam rose and grabbed my arm, pulling me up onto my feet gently.
'Hey, Sephy,' Sammie poked my arm.
'Yeah?'
Me, Sammie, Adam and Tabby were waiting for the bus. I was sitting down as Adam had insisted because of my poor shin which was still giving me grief. I shivered, feeling the cold of the November wind.
'You want to come ice skating with us on Saturday?'
'Um, sure... Even though it's freezing!' I giggled. 'Who's us?' Sammie blushed. I widened my eyes. 'Who is us?'
'Well, you know, the girls, Adam, and... Ian said he might-' My jaw dropped.
'Aw! I'm so happy for you Sammie! Sure, I'll come. This I must see. Do you reckon Ian's a good skater?'
'But Sephy you have to invite Nathan!' she continued. Tabby started laughing, realising the catch just as I did.
'I don't think so!' I disagreed.
'Ian is more likely to come if Nathan does.'
'So invite him yourself,' I huffed, turning away.
Sammie grabbed me in a tight hug, 'oh don't be like this dear, I don't have his number anyway.'
'Get Ian to call him.' Sammie let go of me and clasped her hands together. I turned to Adam and Tabby, only to find them laughing at me.
'It really isn't funny you know,' I told them.
'But it kind of is,' Tabby shook her head. I stuck out my bottom lip.
'Pretty please?' Sammie tweeted.
'Leave her alone!' Adam said playfully, backing me up. Sammie scowled at Adam as I high-fived him.
'Please, please, please!'
'Nope.' Sammie paused before grinning.
'You know Sephy; we really need to get the band thing sorted...' I narrowed my eyes at her, wondering where she could possibly be going. 'It might be nice if, on Saturday, after ice skating, everybody, the Red Heartz and the Horn boys went round to my house and talked about it...'
