Friends are those rare people who ask you how you are and then wait to hear the answer

Sammie and I were sitting side by side on the bumpy bus, once again on the way to school.
Inevitably, as soon as she came onto the bus, she had interrogated me on what happened the day before. Apparently, she couldn’t text me to ask because she’d run out of credit.
I lifted an eyebrow. ‘Run out of credit you say? Hmm. Interesting. And did you run out when you texted me the totally unhelpful and pointless message about me, Nick and Nathan, or after that...? Like texting certain stalkers for example?’ She let out an easy smile. ‘You realise you are only feeding a bad habit. And an illegal one at that.’ I continued.
‘Nathan isn’t a stalker. He just, wanted your number. What’s wrong with that? What sane single guy wouldn’t?’ I glared at her. ‘I take it he texted you then.’
‘Yes , and called me-’ Insert unnecessary cooing here. ‘But,’ I interrupted, ‘it was all strictly business. Okay?’
‘Business? Well that’s boring,’ she laughed. ‘You’re going along with the rival thing then?’
‘Yeah.’ I sighed. ‘He thinks we should sing some song together which is a good idea, I guess, but I was thinking we sing separate songs and only advertise each other if you know what I mean.’
‘Whoa,’ Sammie breathed. Oh, my idea wasn’t that good was it? ‘No, no, not your idea,’ dang, I said that out loud? ‘Nathan’s! In the gig we’ve got the week before the Christmas Ball the Horn guys could totally play with us!’ Whoa, that is good! Why didn’t I think of that? ‘Because you simply aren’t as clever as me.’
Stop getting into my head!!
About fifteen minutes into the bus journey, Tabby and twin (Adam,) joined us.
Tabby and Adam just happen to be two of the most gorgeous people on the planet. They are both incredibly tall (taller than me, which, by the way, is saying something,) have wavy brown hair, (Tabby’s long, Adam’s short, obviously,) emerald green eyes and impossibly straight teeth. In case you wanted to know.
It was almost embarrassing to stand next to them. You feel like, like an ugly duckling. Or a turnip. Well, not Sammie. She’s gorgeous too, though not quite to their level, it must be said. The lucky carrot head.
But Tabby was kind and sensitive too. And daring. Way too daring. Basically? The best, best friend and worst, worst enemy. And then there is Adam who hangs with us a lot. He was, admittedly, gay, and oh-so-totally-cute with it may I say? They are both incredibly close to each other, you can barely separate them at the best of times. They had some weird twin stuff too. Like when one of them is upset, the other actually felt it, and Tabby started crying once when Adam was getting bullied because he was gay though she didn’t know yet. Which was complete awesomeness.
The bit about the feeling stuff, not the bullying bit...
They took the seats in front of us.
‘Hey guys!’ Adam called happily, turning the impossible force of his astonishing green eyes to me and Sammie.
Sigh. Sometimes, you just forgot that he was gay. And wished he wasn’t too.
‘Heya!’ Sammie called, answering for the both of us. I grinned.
‘What's up? How come you two are catching the bus?’ I piped up. They looked at each other, an awkward look passed between them. They didn’t have to say any more.
