Heart Strings Chapter Fifteen

I couldn't help smiling as I made my way to P.E.. I sometimes saw Sephy in passing as our two groups had P.E. at the same time and sometimes even shared lessons if there was bad weather... maybe...

In the changing rooms Tony and David cornered me. Well, as much as two people can corner one person anyway.

'Did I say something wrong?' Tony asked me.

'No, felt sick all of a sudden.' I lied. David raised an eyebrow.

'So...your answer is...' Tony prompted. They looked at me, silent for a moment.

'I like her,' I said eventually, embarrassed. 'But, I don't...I won't stop you.'

'Oh. That's cool. No problem.' Tony nodded. David's expression was neutral, as if he already knew.

'We should probably get changed now.' David said awkwardly.

So we did.

In the P.E. hall, there was chaos. Mr. Lindsay wasn't in yet.

Sometimes he reminded me of a sex change gone wrong. He sounded like a woman, acted like a man, looked like a woman and a man, and then went by the name of 'Mr. Lindsay’ just to confuse us all.

There were two groups in the hall. Mine and Sephy's. I scanned the crowded sports hall. I couldn't see Sephy anywhere, I could see Mel and Adam talking, so where was she? She'd been there in registration... Had she gone home ill?

Maybe I should ask them if she was...

I was still stood next to Tony and David who were now discussing something incredibly rude with Ian intently if their actions were anything to go by. He was in Sephy's group, would he know?

I shook my head. Why didn't I want to know what they were talking about? All I wanted to know was where Sephy was. I was being so creepy. Definitely some kind of pervert.

God.

I stepped forward.

'Hey Nathan, where are you going?' Tony suddenly called, making me cringe. Okay. So how do I reply to that?

'Just... Um,' I back-tracked towards Tony, David and Ian.

'...what?' Tony prompted. He had a habit of doing that.

'I was just, umm, going to see where Mr. Lindsay is. We should be... starting now...' I replied stupidly.

'Why would you care what he's up to? Probably got locked in the men’s!' Ian laughed. I joined in, only my laughter, to me, sounded shaky. David looked at me as if he knew my secret.

I was a pervert stalker guy.

As Ian said that, Mr. Lindsay, Miss Elson and Sephy came through the entrance of the hall, Sephy in navy blue shorts and a blue top looking amused, Mr. Lindsay looking incredibly flushed and agitated and Miss Elson weary.

'Right everybody! Sorry about the hold up,' Mr. Lindsay called over the murmurs of people talking, soon silencing them. 'I had a slight problem with the men's room lock which seems to be jammed or something-'

Sniggers circulated around the room. And Iam received a high-five from Tony.

'Um, yes, the register?' he coughed, his face reddening. Miss Elson giggled before correcting herself and handing him a register.

As the registers were being taken, I saw Sephy making her way to me. I felt oddly uncomfortable; it felt like it was taking forever, as if she was walking in slow motion and once again gave me the impression that I was perving on her yet I wasn't sure to walk towards her in case she was walking to the door behind me... Or...
