'God, just as I start to get close you start to get faster!' she moaned, but she was smiling.
'Yeah, sorry about that.'
'Nah, it's fine.'
'No I mean, just walking off too. I didn't know you wanted me to stay.'
Sephy shrugged, 'it was kind of an awkward moment. I wouldn't expect anyone to. Stay I mean.' I nodded. 'And,' she continued, 'I'm sorry for earlier.'
I cocked my head to the side, 'when?'
'Detention. I was being kinda harsh to you about the whole Nick thing. I'm sorry. Truth is, me and Nick really aren't working. And... I don't know what to do about it... You probably guessed it's about what I asked you earlier...'
'Oh,' I said, feeling bad. Really bad. 'No, that's my fault. I was prying.'
'No way, I was prying too anyway, saying that stuff about you being a sweet talker and everything. It's not true you know. You're not that bad.' I laughed earning a jokey shove from Sephy.
'You don't have to lie,' I told her.
'Well, it's none of my business anyway. Besides, I've realised it's not your fault.' I looked at her. She had said this much quieter and had a confused yet determined look on her face.
'Not my fault?'
'That girls fall for you. And, maybe you do get forced into it a bit...or are just completely out of it.'
'What?'
'It's not exactly your fault that you’re cute either...'
'Sephy...' I chuckled. Suddenly Sephy looked up at me alarmed.
'I'm saying all of this out loud aren't I?' I almost fell into the road from laughing so much. Sephy began to speed up.
'How could you not realise? I was talking back to you!' I managed to splutter when I caught up with her.
'I thought I was talking to you in my head...' I paused, unsure if she was serious. She glanced at me before we both burst out laughing.
I coughed to clear my throat when we'd calmed down, ready to risk a question. '… So... You think I'm cute...?'
I swear, I will not be able to feel my left arm for a month. At least.
'Are you stalking me again?' Sephy asked when her temper had stilled.
'No...'
'You realise you are following me home...don't you?' I raised my eyebrows and looked around me.
'Nope... I believe it is you stalking me...'
Her jaw dropped as she glared at me, 'you are joking, right?'
'Yup,' I grinned at her as we both turned to go down different roads.
'That was just scary,' Sephy's glare lightened as we paused at the crossroads.
'Unreal,' I shook my head as I looked up at the sky above us.
'What?'
'It's unreal that I only met you yesterday.'
Sephy smiled before she said, 'same, see you tomorrow?' For some reason I was disappointed, like that wasn't the reaction I was waiting for.
I nodded at her, waved and watched as she waved back and twirled round before continuing down the road.
You complete idiot, I thought to myself before turning and making my way back to my own house.
'It's Juuuuuulieeeeeeeeeet!!' my phone trilled embarrassingly.
