Raising his eyebrows, he looked rather puzzled. "Not trying to disregard you and all your hard work so far.. but it's just a bit odd as your hiring was completely against regular company policy."
"Oh." Was all I could manage. I had heard that BigHit only hired women who were married or in a long term relationship, as to avoid scandal from the media, but I hadn't been sure if this was true.
Come to think of it, all the sunbaes and unnies I know are taken.
"Look Y/N.." the man sighed, in the most nonconfrontational way ever. "Can I call you that? Anyways.. I'm not stupid okay.."
Did I just offend him? What do I say?
As my mind ran around in circles, my mouth formed a wide gape where words struggled to escape.
"The boys have taken a liking to you," he surprisingly smiled as he said this. "Good or bad, I don't know.. and honestly I don't care right now."
"Oka-"
"But! But, but, but.." he said pausing convincingly and emphasising his last 'but'. "..I did not become succesful by not caring. I know the repercussions, and I want you to know that I'm watching."
After successfully turning me into a ghost, he walked back over to his big leather chair. Behind the table, he was now a CEO again, no more 'casual' conversation.
"My point is.. whatever happens, you must not do anything that will jeopardise BTS as a brand or BigHit as a company. Your allegiance to BigHit is first and foremost; it is your contractual obligation. And despite the Jimin/saesang debacle.." trailing off into a grimace he left some things unsaid. We both knew the extent of this debacle very well.
"..this is something the boys are well aware of. You should too."
I audibly gulped as the weight of this conversation dawned on me, not knowing if I could say or do anything.
"Do I make myself clear?" PDnim was now looking down to continue the paperwork on his table, but his sterness was unwaivering.
"Yes sir."
"Good, you may leave now."
Scurrying away like a dog with my tail between my legs, I could not get out of there sooner. Once I left the room and exited the sliding doors, I released the breath I had been holding this entire time. Even though I was still on BigHit property, I was now in a familiar part of the building, not the CEO's territory.
But as soon as I exhaled, I gasped almost immediately. Down the hall was Namjoon walking straight towards me. One of the music PDs walking with him; they were deep in inaudible conversation. Only when they were within 5 steps of me did Namjoon notice my presence. Making eye contact, I quickly bowed to greet the two. Both out of courtesy and out of avoidance.
"Well let me know what you think alright, Namjoon?" Said the PD while patting him on his back."I'll go see him first, you can just wait out here.."
Smiling at me on his way in, the man had left us out here in an uncomfortable situation.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked knowing full well that that wasn't what I wanted to talk to him about.
"There's a problem with one of the album songs and we wanted PDnim to have a look at it, but the issue is.." Namjoon had started to go on a tangent before he realised my jumbled expression. ".. you don't really care do you?"
I shook my head. My face downcasted as I avoided eye contact.
"Your tears.. compared to Jihye's.. are more painful to me.."
