14. Those Are Strings, Pinocchio (Season 3, Episode 22)

This episode is full of endings and even more beginnings. Rory graduates from high school and delivers a Valedictorian speech that is as tear-jerking as it is inspirational. Her salute to her mother and her grandparents brings tears to our eyes even still. Rory and Lorelai head off on their trip across Europe, Luke heads on a cruise with Nicole, Rory heads off to Yale, and Lorelai and Sookie start plans to open their own inn. An episode full of this much change is sure to be a Gilmore classic.

High points: Rory's speech, Paris and Rory's goodbye, Lorelai and Sookie finally get to buy the Dragonfly, Brad's uncomfortable speech (complete with music)

Low points: It seems almost inexcusable that Christopher isn't here for this. And how did Rory catch up enough to be valedictorian, especially after the deer incident?

Best quote: "I live in two worlds. One is a world of books... It's a rewarding one, but my second is far superior. My second one is populated with characters slightly less eccentric, but supremely real, made of flesh and bone, full of love, who are my ultimate inspiration for everything..."- Rory
