Danganronpa (YES I JUMPED ON THE BANDWAGON)

Start from the beginning

Last character I kind of hate is Monaca's older brother, Haiji. Literally, I thought he was bit of a coward at first but by the climax, I kind of came to the realization that he was kind of a dick. I'm not blaming Monaca's actions based on circumstance but the more I think about it, you can partly place the blame on the kids' families. They treated their kids like absolute crap. Masaru had an alcoholic dad, Nagisa's dad treated him like a goddamn experiment, Kotoko's dad made money by prostituting her and her mother to random people for sex while cheating on his wife with his assistant (YOU KNOW THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED DON'T DENY IT), Jataro's mom repeated told him that she wished he was never born and wanted him to die, to the point where Jataro started to degrade himself just to make his life easier and Monaca, being born out of wedlock, was dumped onto her father and as a result was hated by her family to the point where she felt the need to lie about being disabled just to get some love and attention.

Let's remind ourselves that kids are largely influenced by their parents, for better or worse. As we grow older and learn more about the world, even if we become thinking people with different opinions in our own right, the overall presence of our parents are a huge factor in where we end up and/or how we turn out. We can deny this reason for eternity and it would still be true. Toko is kind of a huge example of this, now that I think about it (the side conversations you have with Komaru actually tell you quite a bit about her past). Hell, even Rika from Mystic Messenger is huge example of this. I'm getting off track but you get my point.

So yeah. Monaca may be a bitch but Haiji was also kind of an asshole. Even if I get the feeling that Monaca would've been swayed by Junko regardless, think about the fact that if their families had been a lot more loving towards their kids and actually treated them like human beings, the chances for Junko to use their anger and sadness over their current state of lives to her advantage and trigger The Tragedy would've been far, far, far lower.

And now we need to address the elephant in the room: the ending to the anime.

I honestly don't mind it. I mean, the explainantion for how Junko instigated The Tragedy was kind of ridiculous but then again, so was Monaca's ability to create a helmet that brainwashed people. I think the main reason why many were disappointed was because there was a lot of emphasis on how it was the Biggest, Awful, Incident in History, so people were expecting it to be the start of it all to be just as grand. But it all just ended up being just the effects of a brainwashing video. But to be fair, I didn't care at that point because my main concern by the end of the Despair arc were the characters. Seeing Chiaki die was brutal and the others falling into despair because of it was heartbreaking enough. Hajime, who is now Izuru Kamakura, starts crying for Chiaki and all hell breaks loose inside my heart.

Also people say that the Hope arc totally retconned the deaths of the second game as well as Kirigiri's (will get to that in a moment) but again, even though it was pretty hokey, it left me feeling good inside. It's not perfect, but it didn't take away my overall enjoyment of the anime.

And now Kirigiri's death.

Tbh out of all the deaths that happened in the series, hers was the most unnecessary....in the story standpoint. Not only was I sad that my favourite character died, it kind of rendered Kizakura's sacrifice absolutely meaningless. He made a promise to protect Kyoko to her father and ended up doing his forbidden action to save her. Although at the same time, it did lose some of the character development Makoto got with it by bringing her back to life. But on the other hand, it kind of made sense that Kyoko would've taken Seiko's medicine before her Forbidden Action was triggered. So clearly there's no clear win here. ¯\__( °~°)__/¯ What do you think was better?

But to be fair, after everything Makoto went through, he deserved it.

Okay but the earlier parts of the Despair arc are literally one of the funniest episodes ever like seriously. THE SECOND EPISODE KILLED ME LIKE HIYOKO WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

LIKE IM NOT COMPLAINING BECAUSE WE GOT KAZUICHI TRYING TO "COMFORT" SONIA WITH FUYUHIKO HAVING MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF CONTROL

BUT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

ALSO DID MIKAN JUST PIN PEKO TO THE WALL

AND SHE WAS ABOUT TO USE THE SWORD AS A FUCKING DILDO

On my Google+, I have my reactions posted as I blindly watched the anime so check those out if you want to know about my more, uh.....explosive reactions lmao.
