Carnival Phantasm is a 16 episode OVA series created by TYPE-MOON in 2011 as the company celebrated its 10th anniversary. It consists of all the characters of their most popular series, namely being Fate/stay night, Melty Blood and Tsukihime. It was also based on their gag manga called Take-Moon by Eri Takenashi.
No one's really sure how and why this gem exists, but by god we're all immensely glad that is does.
Also, imagine my surprise when I found out that the music for this series was done by none other than our good old Fairy Tail composer, Yasuharu Takanashi. Huh. No wonder the BGM sounded familiar.
(...Okay, yeah, I know he has done other anime as well but I primarily know him through FT.)
Now, the same franchises I mentioned above are often known for their dark atmosphere, gore, mature themes, gripping storytelling and fleshed-out worlds.
