More silence filled the atmosphere between them, weighing down the heavy conversation they were having.
Suddenly, Namjoon chuckled quietly to himself.
"It's fucked up isn't it." He said, lamenting on the frustrating situation he was in.
Not hearing a response from Jungkook he looked up to see the pale expression on his face. He was staring past him and looking like he just saw a ghost.
The rapper turned around to find what it was Kookie was staring at, and he might as well have seen a ghost.
Because there was no way that she could be standing in front of them right now. And yet she was just as Namjoon remembered her. Every fibre of her being etched in his memory, how could he forget?
"Joon-ah.." the woman peeped, barely over a whisper, tears in her eyes.
It was her.
It was Jihye.
How did she..?
The leader couldn't finish a single train of thought as everything he felt bubbled up to the surface. All those repressed sadness, longing, and loneliness came back, mixed in with relief, happiness, and resolution.
Before he knew it, Namjoon felt tears stream uncontrollably from his eyes.
And he wept.
-
I walked through the halls lined with BTS' album posters, as I checked in for another day of work. What was my initial reason in starting to work for BigHit has become the death of me. I couldn't avoid them and I was now tangled in this whole mess.
Looking at my feet taking one step after another along the clean white floors, questions hung over my head about too many incomprehensible things. I've been avoiding Jimin and Hanna like the plague, Namjoon refuses to acknowledge my existence, because he's always with Jihye, and I haven't spoken to Yoongi since that night. In BTS I had gained and lost friends.
I turned the quiet corner before the meeting room for my morning debrief and unexpectedly bumped into Namjoon, dropping and breaking his cup of coffee.
Of course.
"I'm sorry! I'll clean this up now!" I scrambled to find some paper towels or something to make up for what I did. I didn't have to see his face to know it was Namjoon. His long legs, the way he always smelled like pyjamas, it was definitely him.
"Hey, it's alright.."
"No I'll be right back! I need to-"
"Y/N." He grabbed my wrist stopping me from turning around and walking away. "It's fine."
He whispered my name, extending the last letter as he always did. I saw the soft look in his eyes, something I haven't seen in a while. For the first time in forever, he was looking right at me, and not through me.
Yet.. it was equally as painful.
My mind quickly reminded me of all the things he had done up until now and abruptly broke eye contact.
"I- I should go.." I whispered with my face down. "Don't want Jihye to see us talking right..?"
"She's not here.."
"Well I should go anyways.. I've got work to do." I hurriedly came up with an excuse to get out of there.
"Yeah.. Ok."
I hate this.
Even without Jihye here, things were different. I was resentful of how he's been treating me all this time, and he's.. well I don't know. He wasn't his usual cheery self, and things were different. I hated this. I wanted desperately for everything to go back to the way they were. I ached for that comfort I found in him. Comfort he no longer needed from me.
